{Chapter 8}
I looked at Redd with new eyes. He was like me and would be the first person I've met to understand me. I smiled at him and went to say something.
"He-."
"We're home! Come downstairs! We need to talk!"
"I have to go."
I turned around, wishing I could talk to Redd, but drug myself down the stairs. I'm surprised Clara didn't wake up from their loud voices. My parents never did seem to care whether or not they woke us up. I sat down on the couch next to Jake, eager to leave the room and go back upstairs.
"So, what did you guys bring us down here for?" Jake asked with a kind voice.
"We wanted to know how babysitting went. Was Clara good? How were the neighbors?" my mom eagerly asked.
"There were no problems. Clara had a lot of fun. The neighbors are really great. Parker is a year older than me. We seem to have many common interests." I loved when Jake used his vocabulary. It was so sweet.
"What about you Perry?" Dad asked.
"I had to catch a mouse. The girls were freaked out, but I took care of the situation." My mom looked disgusted. No 'good job' for me, no it was a 'I can't believe my offspring touched a rodent'.
"Alright then." My dad said, taking away the attention of the mouse situation. "Here is ten dollars for the both of you. Please save some? Goodnight." He said the last part with a smile. This was our signal to go back to our rooms.
"Goodnight." I called from the bottom of the stairs. I raced up them and quickly, yet quietly, closed the door to my room. I made my way over to the window, but was saddened by what I found. Redd had his blinds closed.
Maybe he had thought I didn't want to talk? Maybe he now hated me for leaving after showing me his arm. I could feel my anxiety pulsing inside. I held my head between my hands. Calm down Persephone. I decided just to go to bed instead of pacing a trench into my floor. I turned out the light sitting on my nightstand and covered up.

I was skiing.
I'd never actually skied before. Well I did once, but I was 9 and I ended up doing a somersault in the air, landed on my head, and bounced back onto my feet and kept going after hitting a rock. If I didn't have my helmet on, I probably would've snapped my neck. Always use safety.
My skis were not regular skis though. In fact, they were made from sticks. I could feel the premonition, but didn't know where the feeling was coming from. Everything around me was so peaceful and calm. A pair of birds flew past me and were calling out. They seemed fearful as well.
I turned around to see what may be the creature everything was fearing. I saw nothing there though. I turned back around and that's when it hit me.
A snow ball came flying at me and hit my head. It was so cold against my warm self. That's when I realized what was wrong. I had no helmet on. Upon finding is out, I tried to slow myself down, but I tried to no avail. That's when I saw the rock up ahead.
I attempted to swerve and avoid it, but the rock seemed to spread itself wider. My ski hit the rock and shattered. I flew up into to the air and started to do a somersault. Just as I was coming down I saw something below me. It was a rock bed. I closed my eyes and waited for the impact.
***
The impact never came. Instead, I hit my head on the floor. I'd rolled of my bed rather than flipping through mountain air. I guess this was a little better than landing on rocks.
I got up to go to the bathroom to get an aspirin tablet. It was only 9:47 on a Sunday morning and I was already getting a head ache. I pulled open the medicine cabinet door, but not before stopping myself to see my reflection.
The goose egg that was already developing on my head was the size of a quarter. I sighed and opened the cabinet, grabbed an aspirin and a washcloth, then turned on the cold water. I grabbed my cup I had for brushing my teeth and filled it half way. Leaving the water on, I soaked the washcloth and swallowed my pill.
I turned the water off and took the washcloth to my head bump and sat on my bed. I sighed and opened my blind. I couldn't believe the fact that I'd rolled off of my bed and hit my head. I always remain stationary when I sleep. I guess I was pretty active in the dream though.
"Can I come in?" Jake knocked at my door. He was good about that, not entering with out warning, that is.
"Sure." I said meekly.
When Jake entered it had really surprised me. He wasn't alone and I wasn't dressed in something covering my scars. I couldn't believe he didn't tell me he had somebody with him. Especially since it was one of the neighbors.

So what do you think?
I tried my best to make it seem like a cliffhanger.
I know there wasn't much exciting in the chapter, but I think you'll really enjoy the next one.
I have three different plots right now, and I'm not sure which one I'm going to use.
