Dia walked into the school in her cheerleading outfit, her face rich and vibrant. All eyes glued onto her for a few moments as she walked past them, her scent deliciously aromatic and fragrant. She wore her school converse, the one provided by the school, assured by her parents that they were the finest and of high quality. It was genuine, custom made for her and sparkled with the additional touch she insisted they put; a rim of tiny crystal diamonds.
She was known for flaunting.
When she stepped into the gym, she spotted Jenna and her squad. Meg had called in sick and Katy was late. No matter, she could manage on her own. She strode into the gym, not noticing the stares the football players on the bleachers were giving her. Idon waved a hi to her in Greek. She smiled shortly before reaching Jenna.
"Hey, you're here." Jenna smiled. Dia put her hands on her hips. The uniform was tight, hugging her body was the shirt, long sleeved, blue and grey, midriff-baring with the school's initials printed at the front and her skirt, of similar colour, but short. "I'm sorry but we're going to have to postpone practice. We can't seem to get the key to the storage. It's got all our shoes in there, and pom poms." She motioned to the senior squad. Along with Dia, Meg and Katy, two more girls had made it into the team. One was blonde. The other ginger. The blonde kept glancing at Dia, annoyance evident on her face. When Jenna and her squad went back to discussing cheers, the blonde girl approached Dia.
"Since we're both obviously going to have to work together, I've decided to put our differences behind us and work with you, as much as I hate you," the girl made a face. "Stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours." Dia stared at the girl in confusion. She vaguely seemed familiar.
Then it clicked.
"Kaila?!" She frowned, bemused.
"Did you pea sized brain already forget my face?" Kaila snapped. Dia got annoyed. She stared right into Kaila's eyes, not frightening her, but throwing her off.
"Who do you think you are?" She hissed quietly, a small smirk forming on her lips. "I'm still better than you. Always was. Always will be. Don't you forget, I was cheer captain last year at OakVille." She took a step forward towards Kaila. "And might I remind you of how I kicked you out of my team foe snapping at me like a love sick saggy titted bitch?" She spat right at her.
"Hh..." Kaila opened her mouth but no words came out. She was lost in a terrifying trance inside Dia's navy blue eyes. Yes, navy blue. No longer the pale blue she remembered.
"And I can do it again." She finished in Greek.
"You know Greek?!" Kaila whispered.
"YOU know Greek?!" Dia questioned back.
"Well yeah I learnt in right after you started pretending I was a nobody. Forgot everything we did. All the memories. I learnt it to drown out the pain."
"How romantic." Dia sneered before she let her eyes move, snapping the girl from her trance and back into reality. "You will continue treating me like a queen. Then maybe I will acknowledge your existence again." She waved her off lazily. Kaila huffed and grinned.
"You can't do anything." She began with a smile. "I learnt Greek so I can communicate with my mother. She's greek you know."
"Fuck that, your mum's british I've met her you little wannabe." Dia grinned.
"Girls?" Jenna began. "Practice postponed till after school." She walked out of the gym, followed by everyone else there. Dia was about to go when Kaila continued.
"Did I ever tell you my biggest secret?" She smiled at Dia. "I know you'd probably think I'm a lunatic or whatever ha ha." She let out a mocking fake laugh. "The woman you met isn't my mum. My real mother, is the goddess of beauty and such. I'm Aphrodite's daughter." She finished.
"You're what?" Dia glared at Kaila. Yup. She's mad now. Crazy. Loony. Insane.
"You heard me. I'm a goddess." Kaila sighed contently.
"Fuck that." Dia began to laugh hysterically.
"Y-You don't believe me?" She questioned.
"You can't be the daughter of Aphrodite." A voice came from one of the bleachers. In Greek. The two girls turned to see Aidon staring at them intently. It seemed he preferred speaking in Greek more often compared to English.
"Why not?" Kaila breathed, now determined on proving it.
"Simple. The Gods don't exist." Aidon finished. He got up and walked over to Kaila. He towered over her and glared at her. "So get your head out of the clouds and stop being delusional. You're such a sorry excuse of a mortal."
"But-"
"Seriously? How many books have you even read to claim yourself as the daughter of the goddess of 'Beauty', you're not even that pretty."
How rude... Dia thought for a split second before she realised.
"And of all the people you could have said it to... You decided to say it..." Aidon shook his head before he motioned to Dia. "To her." He turned to Dia. "Mr. Phaeton is looking for you. We've got an advanced class scheduled for today after lunch." He began to walk away. "And don't claim you had another class because I personally checked the tables of all the students before I decided the time of the class."
"You?" She scowled. Kaila suddenly froze.
"Hold it, hold it. Advanced Greek? How come I haven't heard of it?" She questioned.
"It's only for student who already have a special gift in Greek." Aidon answered her in English. "I shall take my leave."
ΞΞΞΞΞΞΞ
Dia stepped into the Greek lesson, holding onto the pile of papers she had received from Mr. Phaeton earlier. She set them on her desk and sat down, exhausted. Aidon was not present in class and he ran through her mind all through the it.
