"ATTENTION! FIVE LAPS OF THE FIELD, THE LOSER OF WILL COOK BREAKFAST GOOOOOO," Mrs Titely bellowed across the field, making sure everyone back at Ashford academy heard the command as well.
"Feels like we're in the bloody army!" Luke exclaimed as we stood out in the freezing cold watching little year 7's sprint around the field.

"What you two doing standing around?" the large teacher questioned, "this isn't a holiday, five laps of the field! GO!"
So off me and Luke jogged to catch up with the rest, Luke speeding ahead.
Eventually I caught up with a group of year seven girls who were lagging at the back.
"Hey Eden," a quiet voice called out. I turned around to face a pretty year seven girl, Brooklyn.
"Oh hey Brooklyn, your the girl from the bus and campfire yeah?" She nodded her head weakly as we continued jogging at the back of the race. "So..." Brooklyn wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, "you and Luke huh! Can't say you've only kissed as a dare now, can you?"

How the hell did she know?

"But... what... you?!" I stuttered, extremely confused.
"I went to go to the toilet and heard you two in your tent," she giggled and made kissing noises.
"Well..." I lifted my finger up to my lips, "I hope you can keep secrets!"

"ASSAULT COURSE, YOU MUST COMPLETE THE COURSE ONE BY ONE AGAINST A RIVAL TEAM!" Miss Titely yelled at the nervous year sevens who stood facing the intimating course.
"EDEN AND LUKE WILL DEMONSTRATE FOR YOU!"
Me and Luke exchanged nervous glances and stepped towards the large assault course. A whistle blew and we both ran towards the first obstacle, a very small, dark tunnel.
I lowered myself to the ground and slowly wriggled into the tight space, letting the darkness consume me. I couldn't see a light at the end so I just continued to crawl through the tunnel.

Suddenly, my hand sunk into a cold sticky substance, mud. I let out a small squeal and attempted to find a way around it, but my only choice seemed to be to continue to crawl through the thick mud.
Eventually a dim light appeared in the distance and I desperately clambered towards the exit. When I reached the end I realised the exit wasn't quite as simple as I had hoped. In front of me was a large pool of brown muddy water.

Great.

I glanced to my left to see that a dirty Luke was already wadding through the deep brown water.
So I leapt into the water and started walking through the disgusting liquid. Surely this is the worst it gets, and my once pristine clothes were ruined.

Towering above me was a huge wooden climbing wall with rocks and foot holes jutting out. There was no harness in sight, so with Luke already almost at the top, my only choice was to wing it.

After clambering over the wall and sliding down the opposite side, I finally reached the last obstacle.
Stood in front of me was a large iron wall. It wasn't particularly tall but there was no way around and no foot holes or rope to climb over.
I glanced over to Luke, he was crouched on the ground in a leaping position. Suddenly, he leapt towards the sturdy iron wall and swiftly landed on top. He threw me a wink and then disappeared out of sight.

I backed up against the climbing wall, giving myself the biggest run up possible.
Charging towards the iron wall I held my breath and...

"eden, Eden, EDEN?"
I flickered my eyes open and looked up at the tall blond standing over me.
"what... what happened?!" I croaked, unsure of where I was and what was going on.
"You ran into an iron wall!" Luke stated, crouching down to my height. "I ran... into an iron wall!?" I questioned. Luke simply nodded his head, "face first!"
"Face. First!?"

As I attempted to sit up, a huge spark of pain shot up my spine and I let out a yelp. "What have I done to myself!!??" I asked Luke.
He let out a sigh and gave me a look of sympathy, "well apart from the nose bleed which has stopped now, I thought that was it but um... clearly not."
Luke passed me a drink of water and informed me that everybody else was on a lunch break, after completing the assault course.
Lucky them.

Just as I started drifting asleep, I felt something soft press against my lips.
Sparks flew.
I didn't even have to open my eyes. I knew it was my blond best friend.

And it felt so right...

But it wasn't right...

And I knew it.

"Luke..." I mumbled as I forced my eyes to open. "This... this has got to stop. I know your my best friend but... I'm dating Jake and... and I want to stay loyal to him."
There was a long awkward silence which neither of us knew how to break. It was as if the world around us had froze and no one else existed. I glanced up at him and could almost physically see him breaking in front of my eyes.
A tear started rolling down his cheek but he quickly brushed it away and did a large gulp.

"I'm sorry," I croaked.

The bus journey back was going to be a lonely one. Or so I thought.
However just as the last few year sevens jumped on to the mini bus, pretty Brooklyn ran down the isle and squeezed in next to me.
"So, you did the right thing Eden!" Brooklyn stated giving me a weak smile.
I swear she is some kind of psychic.

As the bus pulled up to Ashford Academy, me and Luke were instructed to stay seated as she needed to 'have a word with us'.
Awkward silence consumed us once again so I decided to text Jake to let him know we were back.

While we were having our last lecture from Miss Titely informing us that it was 'absolutely unexceptional to loiter in a teachers bedroom', there was a knock on my window.

Standing outside the bus was my dark haired, green eyed boy. He gave me the biggest, cheekiest grin ever and pressed his tanned nose up against the glass.

Without letting the large teacher finish her speech, I leapt out the bus and ran into my baby boy's arms. He gave me a genuine smile and crashed his lips against mine. When we finally pulled away from each other and Jake put me back down on the floor, I took one last glance at the bus.

I saw a pair of pained blue eyes staring back at me. His eyes weren't a happy blue like usual, but a stormy blue. A broken blue.

"I'm sorry" I whispered.
