Tomas' P.o.v ( 6th grade )
" Why are you even friends with her?" Asked my friend Derrick.
Without a doubt, I knew he was talking about Delilah, we'd been friends since the last two months of elementary school. But things changed since then, her hair, which was once at her shoulders were now barely at her ears and she'd gotten darker. A lot darker.
I didn't mind it but other boys did, she was my friend and she stood up for me. More than once. Coming into middle school I got picked on about my weight and she was always there telling people off and sharing her fruity snacks with me after.
"What's wrong with me being her friend?"
"Well she's ugly. She doesn't have any hair and she's dark skinned."
"Derrick, you're the same color as she is, what are you talking about?" I asked opening my locker.
"It's different for me. People like me. No one likes her."
"She has a lot of friends."
"That doesn't mean they like her." He said shrugging.
"Maybe you should stop talking about her." I said closing my locker.
"Why? You like her?"
"Ew, no."
"So you admit that she's ugly?"
"No but--"
" So you do like her? That explains alot. That's why she stands up for you all the time. She's your girlfriend!" He yelled.
"No she's not!" I replied pushing him into the locker.
I didn't give him a chance to respond I just turned around and walked to my math class. I only have three classes with Delilah and those were all connections classes, you know like P.E., art, health. She's really good at art, we both were but she was better than me, she could do really cool bubble letters.
I got into math class two seconds before the bell rang, with Derrick trailing behind me, when we sat at our table, I heard a familiar laugh.
Delilah's P.O.V ( 6th grade )
I still don't understand why they changed my classes two months before the end of the school year, but it wouldn't be anything to bad because all of my friend were in these classes too, even Tomas.
I got into the class earlier than everyone else, so that I could get my seat. The math teacher, Mrs. Stallings, put me in the last group with my back facing the door, so I couldn't see who was coming in the classroom.
"Is this Delilah?" Asked one of my friends Clara.
"Yeah, I'm in your class now, surprise!" I responded laughing.
"Alright class settle down and let's get started!" Called Mrs. Stallings.
I hate math. It always seems to make the day just drag by, and I'm always tired after, so its a good thing that math was the last class I had, so I could sleep when I got home.
When the bell rang Tomas was the first one out of class, I guess he didn't know that I was in his class because how we sit, my back is faced towards him. He was probably going to my old class, he usually waits outside of the door for me so that we could walk to the bus lane together.
