we were once young
full of energy
wild abandon in our pursuance of passions
But time weathered us down.
It beat us back and molded us to form,
To resemble something we never hoped to become.
We were once young,
full of enthusiasm -
wild sparks set to ignite at every moment,
but age bottled us up.
It erected walls to keep us ordered,
to force ourselves to conform to social norms.
we were once young,
But now we are all the same.
