Optimism is chipped away
Slowly but surely
Little by little
Eaten from the inside
By the doubt and hate
And from the outside
By the struggles of the day
And pessimism prevails
Steady in its climb
Step by step
It rises higher and higher
Because reality applies
As optimism crumbles
And chips in and outside
Such is living life
