Death is my friend I shall not want
When the time comes to journey on
Towards the calling light up high.Death is my lover like sirens
Alluring and pulling with lust
That takes unhappily to night.Death is my brother whom I trust
Will take me swiftly when the sand
From the hour glass disappears.Death is the wisdom gained from life
Studied and learned in burning light
That fades and follows silent peers.Death is the pain that numbs forever
Never to fade and wither 'way
To allow solace and comfort.Death is the truth that shines so bright
It blinds the eyes of all nearby
And bears all secrets we afford.Death is dark and damp and demise
That creeps through veins with no remorse
And pulls the cold flesh to its grave.Death is lonely and desperate
For the connections we eschewed
Unknowing we might someday crave.Death is sadness that blocks the sky
And barricades the happiness
That may arise from the unknown.Death is yet better than living
Forever and watching the end
Of those whom I loved all my life.Death is yet better than never
Again seeing the most wondrous
Miracle of birth and new life.Death is yet better than having
No definite end in sight to
Rest at peace for the final time.
