@@@@ RECAP:

I sat confused, behind the debris, turning the bracelet over and over on my wrist.

It hadn’t turned cold the entire of dad’s visit.

Just as I let the thought cross my mind, I thought I heard whispers.

I didn’t have long.

Survival one-oh-one: You can’t pull an all-nighter and expect to escape the hunter (who is obviously much smarter, faster and more experienced than you)

I needed a place to stay the night.

My phone hadn’t restored to hundred per cent charge in the little time I had kept it plugged in, with the help of an extra charger. I didn’t want to risk losing contact, so I flipped it over to power saving mode. The backlight dimmed, and I rest my head against the wall.

A prickling sort of pain over took my calf and thighs, and they felt like they were paralysed. I’d kept my muscles tense for too long.

Peeking over slightly, I scanned the length of the hallway on both ends. It was empty.

If I were to make a run for it, where would I go? What would I do?

Who could I trust?

My phone flashed, as I rushed to open the text.

We ran into trouble, and had to split up. Don’t worry though, I’m almost there. Stay where you are.

I hugged my cell to my chest, taking back all the times I had cursed it for its inefficiency— promising myself I’d never mishandle the equipment ever again.

I knew I could trust him. He was the only one who was worth it.

“All right, Kenny, I give up” I giggled, with my eyes closed “I have no idea where on earth we are”

“So I can assume you were being honest when you said you couldn’t see anything” I heard a grin in his voice “We’re almost there”

He reached over, behind my head, and untied the cloth over my eyes.

I pulled it off, and looked around, expecting something…but…

“We’re still in White Rose” I frowned. “I thought you said you were taking me somewhere.”

“I am. Impatient little bird” he chided, and began to unbutton his shirt.

“Umm…” For an odd reason, I couldn’t avert my eyes.

I tried to concentrate on the infinitely seeming high walls on either side, which were the back walls of the north and west tower respectively. We were in a little alley way, where a lot of beams passed over our heads.

Stories above, I could see a faint spray of stars.

“Come on” Kenny stretched out his hand to me, and I took it. He closed his eyes.

Ever so gently, and calmly, his wings unfolded from god knew what corner on his shoulder blades, and appeared into the dark night.

He bent over and swept my feet off the ground, cradling me to chis bare and warm chest.

Ever so slightly, he crouched on his knees, and plummeted towards the sky.

The take-off was slightly rough, but he flew gentler once we were in air.
