I sat in Chrysler’s office, and the clock struck one. Chrysler turned around with a grave expression.

“So you see, Luke” he said, with a strange finality in his voice “they will kill Sarah to free Sharon”

“I have to stop him!” I argued with Chrysler

“There is nothing you can do to stop him” he sighed “It has to be done. I already said goodbye yesterday”

“How can you be so calm about this?” I shouted, outraged “and if you knew, why you didn’t tell me earlier?”

“Earlier” he looked at his watch “I was busy, saving you from Dean.”

“Whatever!” I stood up, ungratefully “I’m flying to White Rose, whether you like it or not!”

“I would hope you succeed. It’s the only way I can undo what I’ve done.”

I paused in my tracks.

“Being bound by the burden of right and wrong” he sighed “is a crushing responsibility, Luke. Handle it well.”

“When I come back” I looked at him from my periphery “you owe her a badass apology, is that clear?”

If…” he trailed.

“Try not to get a stroke, old man” I closed my eyes mid-way “we need you alive”

“and you too” was all he said, as a parting.

Danger to your life Dean’s voice echoed in my head, like it had moments ago, at the mansion when I was about to take off for White Rose.

Not like that’s something new I replied to Dean.

I have to protect you, Luke. Stop this madness.

Chrysler had sealed Dean, so he wouldn’t take over

So you can control my body all over again?

I did that for the very reason your mother summoned me—to protect you!

Well, sometimes kids don’t listen to their parents.

And make the gravest mistakes of their lifetime! He sighed. Luke. Forget her. You heard what Robby said; she isn’t real. Only an imitation— like how I’m not really you, but I reside within you.

She’s real to me.

Then how about Sharon? She was always real—the original—concealed by a fake replacement to protect her. The past thirty years she’s been that way, thirteen of which she remained a child. Robby Chrysler’s looked after Sarah for longer than she believes, and longer than you. Yet he was able to do the right thing, and righteously give Sharon the freedom she was deprived.

Are you gonna shut your brow-raising mouth? I spat. I’m trying to concentrate.

And why exactly do you want me to do so? He questioned in reply.

Because I don’t want to be ruled over by someone who isn’t even supposed to exist in this time frame. I rolled my eyes. Talking to myself had its quirks…major ones.

Exactly how it has been with Sharon all this while. Unjust, don’t you think?

To that, I had no reply.

Do you see now, why this has to be done? If it were you in Sharon’s place, you’d do anything to be able to get rid of me. If Sarah loved you before I took over; she would do the exact same thing Kenny is doing. Because she’d know that you’ve had enough. She’d kill me for your freedom, because I wasn’t even supposed to exist.
