I refused to move out of my bed the following morning. I was making the most of not having to be in work. Oli complained that she wanted to go to check out the Black Friday sales so I told her to go and ask Sal. I grabbed my laptop and looked at a few things online but there wasn't much that took my interest. Brian hooked up the ps4 in my room and carried on playing Fallout while I browsed. A while later I shut my laptop, grumbling under my breath that the only thing I had found were some Star Wars fairy lights. But they were pretty cool. I snuggled into Brian's side as I watched him play, making the most of having him here. I sighed deeply.
"What's up Shae?" Brian asked, not taking his eyes off the game.
"Just bummed you're going home soon. That's all." I rested my head on his shoulder.
He paused the game and turned to face me, catching me before I face planted into the bed. "Hey," he stroked my cheeky lightly. "It's only 3 weeks til you come over for Christmas. It will fly by and before you know it you'll be on your way back to New York for Christmas." He kissed my forehead.
"Yeah I know. Doesn't mean it sucks any less though." I nudged him with my shoulder and he pushed me back, causing me to fall backwards onto the bed.
"We really should make the most of the time we have left though..." Brian mumbled suggestively, as he crawled up towards me. I shrieked and laughed as he pounced, tickling me until I couldn't breathe. When we finally emerged later that afternoon, I expected to see Sal and Oli downstairs. "They can't be back yet..." I muttered.
Brian looked out of the window. "Cars here though."
Just then I heard a bang and a giggle from upstairs. I looked at Brian, his face mirrored mine. Both our mouths were open in shock. "They haven't?!"
Brian shushed me and listened again. "They are you know! It's about damn time."
I dragged Brian towards the door. "Come on, let's give them some peace."The rest of the evening passed in a blur. We went for dinner and drinks. And more drinks. And even more drinks. We stumbled down the road from the bus stop and back towards the house. I pranced about as Brian held my hand to stop me wandering into the road. He stopped outside my house and pulled me towards him, gathering me in his arms. "You," he said, peppering my face with kisses. "Are the most wonderful woman. I'm so happy to have met you." He kept kissing my face and neck until I batted him off me.
"Your beard is tickling!" I screeched. He clapped his hand over my mouth and shushed me. The alcohol had had an effect on my volume control. "Will you stop that?" I shouted, batting his hand away.
He descended on me then, his soft lips stark contrast to his rough beard. He walked me backwards towards the side of the house and pushed me back against the wall, his mouth never leaving mine. There was a sudden urgency, neither of us could wait until we got in the house."Ow." My head pounded as I struggled to open my eyes. I muttered to myself about never drinking again.
"Morning sunshine." Brian smiled from the other side of the bed.
"Fuck you and your chirpiness." I growled.
He leaned over and kissed me lightly. "Aww is someone a little hungover?"
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Yes someone is. Because someone else," I prodded him in the chest, "kept buying shots." I started to drag myself out of bed.
"Fucking hell Shae." I turned back to Brian.
"What?" I took a second to appreciate his nakedness as he jumped out of bed and rushed over to me. He pulled me over to my mirror and spun me around. My back was covered in scratches. "Ok, ow to that too. Forgot about that." I tried to reach my back but failed."Come on." Brian wrapped my dressing gown around himself and ushered me into the bathroom. He turned on the shower and pulled me inside, and ever so gently cleaned my back free of grit and dirt.
Once he was done, he turned me around to turned to face him. "Seriously going to miss you, you know." He said quietly. I nodded, unwilling to speak in case I cried. I'd made a promise to myself that I was going to hold my shit together this time.
"Come on..." I slapped Brian's arse, the sound reverberating around the bathroom, making me laugh. "Let's go wind up the lovebirds."Oli and Sal were curled up on the sofa together. I smiled at Oli when she looked up, she was grinning from ear to ear. I glanced at Sal, he was looking equally as happy. "It's about bloody time." I grinned at them. We spent the rest of the weekend just chilling in the house, none of us wanting to discuss the fact that the guys were leaving soon. I watched the clock as time ticked on and suddenly it was time to leave.
Everyone was quiet on the drive to the airport. I sat in the back with Brian, our hands intertwined and my head resting on his shoulder. We had left it late enough so there was no hanging around. Just enough time to say goodbye.
"See you in three weeks dude." I whispered as Brian rested his forehead against mine.
Brian gazed at me with those deep brown eyes and chewed on his lip. "Shae, I..."
