The mysterious figure finally rounds the corner, and I realise it's a boy around my age. He notices me and says "oh my god, I'm sorry if I scared you''. I look up and notice that he has brown hair, hazel eyes and tanned skin. I realise I'd been staring at him, and quickly look down. ''Hi, my name's Hayden'' he says and sticks out his hand, ''And you are...?''. I stare at his hand like it's going to eat me, ''uh... Dylan'' I say, timidly shaking his hand. He laughs and says, ''Dylan, that's a nice name''. ''Oh um... thanks'' I mumble and stare at the ground, wishing it would swallow me up right this minute. ''No problem'' he replies. There's an awkward silence but then thankfully, the bell goes and I hurry to the main building, I go round Hayden without even looking up at him,  let alone saying ''Bye''. I scurry past him and feel his eyes on me, I come out on to the playground and turn to find Hayden already gone, weird.

I make my way to my form room, and soon realise that it's still crowded and people are still hugging and greeting. I immediately look down. I notice Elecktra in front of me and look up. ''Where've you been, Dylan? I've been looking all over for you!'' she exclaims. '' Oh, it just got pretty crowded so I went to the huts" I reply back. ''Oh, okay'' she says. Mr Barestove, our form tutor, comes in and everyone takes their seat. I go sit next to Elecktra. ''Good morning, guys. Glad to be back at school?" Mr Barestove asks cheerily. Everyone just groans and Mr Barestove laughs. " We have a new student in our form today, his name's Hayden" Mr Barestove says. I shot my head up and notice the boy I met earlier was the new student. Hayden notices me looking at him, and smiles. I quickly look down. "Hello, Hayden" Mr Barestove says. "Hi, sir" Hayden politely responds. "Right, Hayden you can take a seat anywhere there are empty spaces" Mr Barestove informs. I silently pray that he will not choose a seat next to me, and sure enough he pulls out the chair beside me and sits down. I continue looking down at my desk and avoid making any eye contact. Elecktra nudges me, and I give her a puzzled look. Mr Barestove drones on about how we're going to get a lot of work and responsibilty this year because we're going to be starting our GCSE's. Everyone moans.

I notice a lot of girls, including Elecktra are staring at Hayden. I guess he is quite good looking and handsome. I start humming a tune in my head to keep me from getting paranoid, as Hayden keeps looking up and smiling at me. What is his problem? For god's sake. Elecktra really does like him. And he's bound to like her since she's pretty, talented, funny and charming. Mr Barestove is still droning on about how important this year is for us. I sigh, and start doodling in my planner. Drawing relaxes me, and I continue to do so. I feel a tap on my shoulder and see that Hayden is looking at me again with his face adorned with a wide grin. "Do you have a spare pen I could borrow?" he asks. I nod and give him a pen, "Thanks" he replies, I just shrug my shoulders and return to my drawing. "Do you think he likes me?" Elecktra whispers in to my ear. "Who?" I ask, puzzled. She rolls her eyes and whispers "Hayden, duh!". "Oh" I reply back, "I don't know, probably, since you're pretty and all". Elecktra giggles and says, "Well, you're beautiful yourself, he might be swooning over you". That makes me laugh, so much that I start coughing to stop laughing. Bad mistake, I somehow got myself in to a coughing fit and can't stop. Everyone's looking at me now and I wish I could die. I continue choking and I feel everyone's eyes boring in to me. Beside me, Hayden looks genuinely concerned and I just want to die right there. "Are you okay, Dylan? Would you like to go get a drink from the water fountain?" Mr Barestove asks. I nod my head in agreement and rush out of the classroom. I just love my form tutor, once again he saved me from further embarrassment. I walk over to the water fountain and have a drink, that's a relief. I walk back to my form room and once again, everyone stares at me like I'm some kind of alien. "Feeling better, Dylan?" Mr Barestove asks. I nod my head and make my way to my seat.
