I sit down on my seat, "Hey, you okay?" Elecktra whispers next to me, I nod. I suddenly realise how funny that was. I silently chuckle to myself. Hayden must've noticed me chuckling because he taps me on my arm and asks, "What happened to you? You randomly started choking" I just shake my head at him and resume with my drawing. "You don't talk much do you?" he whispers, chuckling. I shake my head, still looking at my drawing. I am not looking up because I do not want to embarrass myself again. Why does he keep talking to me? No boy ever really takes notice of me, it's mostly Elecktra. That's when it hit me, he's talking to me to get with Elecktra! How could I be so dumb and start flattering myself, thinking that for once, a boy actually likes me? Gosh, I am so dumb. I feel like someone slapped me right across the face. I decide that I should just stay away from Hayden, because it's obvious that Elecktra really likes him and that he likes her. I suddenly feel like crying, but I obviously don't. The bell goes signalling for first period. Everyone starts packing. I quickly start packing my stuff, and rush out of the classroom before anyone even has a chance of saying anything to me. I make my way to the music block, careful to keep my head down and avoid making eye contact.
I finally arrive to my designated classroom, and sigh. I just love music, it's the only thing that lets me express myself without needing to communicate with anyone physically. Art and English are the same. I love all three of them. I notice that I'm the first one to arrive and wait outside the classroom. Shortly, Elecktra comes in and stands next to me. She's in my music class, I play the piano whilst she sings. Her voice is beautiful, it captivates you and you're mesmerised by it. "Hey, why the rush?" Elecktra asks. For a second I have no idea what she's talking about, and I realise that she's talking about why I rushed out of the classroom. I just shrug. I see Hayden make his way to our classroom, and I'm shocked. What is he doing here? I soon realise that he's in our Music class, just great. I sigh. Hayden walks up to me and Elecktra and grins. Elecktra immediately smiles back and I just look at the ground. "Hey is this Miss Dyer's Music class?" Hayden inquires. "Oh, yeah it is" Elecktra replies and smiles. Hayden smiles back. I continue staring down at the ground. Finally, Miss Dyer tells us to come and I literally rush up to her and hug her for saving me from speaking, but I obviously don't. Instead I look up and smile at her and make my way to my seat. Elecktra sits beside me and Hayden just has to sit opposite me. Why? Oh yeah, to get with Elecktra, I sadly reply to my own question. I feel Hayden's eyes on me, and I just look down at the keyboard. "Welcome back, class!" Miss Dyer exclaims happily. "Oh, I see we have a new student in our class" She says, beaming at Hayden. He finally takes his eyes off me and smiles. "What do you play, Hayden?" Miss Dyer inquires. "Oh, I play the guitar" he replies. "Wow, a guitar, huh? Well we'll need to put you in a band." she says and looks around the class. I really wish he's not in my band since we have less people than other bands. We have only three people. Me, the pianist, Dan, the drummer and Elecktra, the singer. Miss Dyer obviously realised that and said, "Oh, tell you what. You can be in Elecktra's band since they have only three people and no guitarists". I sigh, just my luck. Hayden grins again, and I feel like slapping him. Why is he grinning? Oh yeah, because Elecktra's in his band.
Miss Dyer, gives us all a song to play. All the bands have a different song and we have ''Radioactive'' by Imagine Dragons. Gosh I love that song! We make our way to the Music rooms where all the instruments are. I sit down at the piano. How I love playing the piano. It was the first ever instrument I learnt to play at the age of 3. And then I started to play other instruments like the guitar, violin, flute and a bit of the drums. But I love the piano. Elecktra sits on a chair and holds a microphone in one hand. Dan sits on the stool and starts a beat. Hayden sits on a chair and tunes his guitar. I start playing the notes I'm supposed to on the piano. Elecktra comes in and sings the song;
"I'm waking up, to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals
whoa''
Her voice is powerful and beautiful at the same time.
"I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it the apocalypse
whoa"
She continues, and Hayden comes in with the guitar. I continue playing the piano, swiftly and get ready for the chorus;
"I'm waking up I feel it in my bones,
enough to make my system blow
welcome to the new age, to the new age
welcome to the new age, to the new age
whoa -oh, whoa-I'm radioactive, radioactive
whoa-oh, whoa-I'm radioactive, radioactive"
Her voice is strong and clear, it's amazing. I continue playing the piano energetically after the chorus;
"I raise my flag, don my clothes
it's a revolution, I suppose
We're painted red, to fit right in
whoa
I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
whoa''
I brace myself for the chorus, and play the notes with force, I love it;
"I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
enough to make my system blow
welcome to the new age, to the new age,
welcome to the new age, to the new age,
whoa-oh, whoa-I'm radioactive, radioactive
whoa-oh, whoa-I'm radioactive, radioactive"
For this verse I slow down, and it's just the piano playing and Elecktra singing, softly;
"All systems go, the sun hasn't died
deep in my bones, straight from inside"
I immediately play the piano with force, whilst the boys come in again, Elecktra sings loud and strong again;
"I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
enough to make my systems blow
welcome to the new age, to the new age
welcome to the new age, to the new age
whoa-oh, whoa-I'm radioactive, radioactive
whoa-oh, whoa-I'm radioactive, radioactive"
We finish the song with just the piano playing, softly. Miss Dyer came in, and applauded. "Wow, guys, you're really good! Elecktra your voice is AMAZING. And Hayden, I didn't know you could play the guitar so well! Dan your drumming is great!" she exclaims, everyone thanks her, "And Dylan, you play the piano beautifully!" she states, I smile and look down. I notice Hayden staring at me with a surprised expression on his face. I really don't get boys. We start packing up, I stay there since I have my music lesson next. I wait for everyone to leave but of course Hayden has to say something, "Hey, why aren't you packing up, Dylan?" he asks. I just look down, but luckily Elecktra comes to my rescue, "She has a music lesson here next" she says. Hayden nods his head and looks at me for like a while before he exists the room. I sigh. I start playing ''Stay'' by Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko, on the piano. I love the way it sounds on the piano. Suddenly, I have a strong urge to sing. I don't know where it came from. I look around, to make sure no-one hears me and I can't see anybody. I quietly start singing the first chorus, and soon get louder and confident. I love singing, but I know I'm not good and anyway I'd bee too scared to sing in front of anyone else. Only Elecktra has heard me sing before, and that's when we're both alone, possibly in her or my room. I continue playing the piano, and sing my heart out. It feels good. Even though I'm pretty sure I'm not in tune, but I don't care, because no-one can hear me. I get lost in the song and soon realise that it's time for break, I've been playing for a while now! I stop playing and sigh. I close the Piano and pack away the equipement and go out of the room. I turn to close the door when I hear someone say "Oh my god! You have an amazing voice, Dylan!" I freeze.
