Chapter 29-

“Justin, stop it!”

“Alexa, stop it!”

“Are you copying everything I say?”

“Are you copying everything I say?” he counters back to me.

I scowl at him but it soon turns into a small smile. Only Justin could make me mad, and joyful at the same time.

Sometimes it was hard to believe this was the boy I was in love with.

Right now we where in his car driving to school and he thought it would be funny to make the car swerve to scare me. Well, it wasn't funny, not at all.

It was terrifying! Especially considering the fact my mother died in a car crash, but on that day it was raining so the sun shining brightly made me feel a bit favorable.

I wasn't going to think about my mother today, I was saving it all for Sunday, the day I would visit her grave site.

I didn't know if my dad was going to go visit her. A part of me wanted him to go with me, so I could be with him and another part of me just wanted to be alone with her. I hoped he missed her as much – if not more than I do.

She was buried here in Carus Valley and my dad moved to Minnesota almost 5 years ago so I knew he hasn't been to her grave at all.

I still needed to order the flowers for her too.

“Alexa, where here.” I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to look at him confused.

“Huh?” I ask him before looking around. “Oh school, that's right.” I smile sheepishly at him before stepping out of his car. He chuckled and walks over to me.

“What had you so distracted?” he asked me a bit concerned.

“Stuff.” I tell him vaguely. He just nods and leaves it at that.

I didn't like revisiting the past.

My past.

It had a tendency to drag me in and it was hard to get out.

As Justin and I walked into school I heard small footsteps behind us and turned around expecting Shane but instead found Jessica. I stood there shocked, what did she want? Since when did she talk to me?

Every time I saw her she was with Aimee, or Aimee’s little wanna-bee’s who used to be my friends too.

“Lex, we need to talk at lunch, okay?” she told me softly, touching my hand tenderly. I nodded my head faintly.

“Yeah, sure.” I managed to squeak out my reply. She smiled at me and nodded before returning to Aimee where we used to meet before school.

I looked around the hall and saw some people looking at me and where Jessica stood. It was quiet in the hall until I meet the eyes of a few students. Most where underclassmen and I glared at them before I started to walk down the hall.

I heard Justin following me to my locker and not soon after Shane showed up.

“Is it true that you slapped Jessica across the face because she wanted to borrow your pencil?” Shane asked out of breath, like he ran all the way over here. I looked at him confused.

“What?” I asked him really confused, what was this blonde idiot talking about?

“Oh, so you spilled coffee down her and Aimee’s shirts because they wouldn't move out of your way into the school?!” he looked at me waiting and I just looked at him with my mouth hung open. “Yes! I knew it!” he yelled as he fist pumped the air.
