They had dreaded ever looking at the Dublekas' hideout after the first time they were kidnapped and taken there, tortured until their breaking point. Now Jake and Rose felt fearless as they stared at the mansion from far away. It was a very surreal feeling to feel so brave and so confident that their final fight with the leader Dubleka would go well. Plus, they had a secret hint of excitement deep inside their heart. Throughout the whole journey, they had hidden excitement for being on an exhilarating adventure. Thinking about the final fight, and having the confidence they had, made their excitement nearly unbearable.
Ever since the second time they were kidnapped, they still were trying to figure out the mystery of what the Dublekas did to them when they had been drugged and taken out of their hostage room. They wanted to know what happened to them while they were out of it. Even though they saw no physical changes, they knew something was different about them.
That didn't matter to them at the moment though. The final battle with the leader Dubleka was going to happen sooner then later, and Jake and Rose had to have all of their focus on that battle if they wanted to win. Walking towards the mansion, they didn't dare and leave each other's side.
"I'm feeling... deja vu," Jake sighed. "I feel like I dreamed about something similar to this last night."
"Me too," Rose agreed. "And then I was showed what would happen if we lost. I was showed what the leader Dubleka would do to the world and how awful the future would be. The world fell apart in a matter of five minutes."
"Yeah... it was so depressing," Jake sighed. "The worst part of it was the way every single person on Earth would be impacted. Silence surrounded me, with echoes of cries following from the people who were killed by the leader Dubleka. It was the worst thing to ever experience."
"Thinking about all of this is making my heart pump so fast," Rose sighed, feeling anxiety rush through her. "Kind of like an electroheart. I'm having all of these nerves and I feel like my heart is going to stop. But it just recharges and restarts. It just continues pumping over and over again no matter what."
"Electroheart..." Jake repeated. "Do you think the Dublekas did something to our hearts?" Rose stared at Jake.
"I'm not sure," Rose answered. "Maybe. We can't focus on that now though. We're here."
Jake and Rose found themselves at the front doors of the Dublekas' mansion. They looked around the entire building for other entrances. They found one side entrance and the back entrance. Jake took the back entrance while Rose took the side entrance, deciding that separating would help them find the leader Dubleka quicker.
Rose was searching around the mansion, staying close to the walls, when she saw what she thought was the leader Dubleka. She hid behind a corner and peeked around... to find two Dublekas that looked exactly like the leader Dubleka. She was immeditely shocked and confused of why there were two Dublekas. She knew that she and Jake had killed four out of the five Dublekas last time they were there! What had happened?! Little did she know that those were Duplicates A and C. Rose's first instinct was to just kill them there and now, even if she was confused. She searched for her pistol in her bag. She pulled it out and aimed it at Duplicate A. She shot him, and he fell to the ground, dead immediately. Duplicate C ran towards where the bullet came from, so he was beginning to come around the corner. Rose took her gun and gripped it tightly.
When Duplicate C came around the corner, Rose whacked him on the head with the handle of her gun. He fell over onto the ground, covering his forehead with both of his hands. Rose then shot one bullet in Duplicate C's chest, and he died. Rose ran away from the two dead Dublekas, still dazed by what had happened and why there had been two of them.
Jake had found the other two Dublekas, Duplicates B and D. Well, actually, they found him. Duplicate B and D had smacked Jake in the back of the head. That was when a brawl formed. Jake was outnumbered two to one, and he was extremely confused about why there were two Dublekas instead of the leader Dubleka, but that didn't stop him from beating up Duplicates B and D. He'd punch one while blocking the other's kick. Soon, Jake relied on his pocket knife and stabbed Duplicate D, killing him. That way, the brawl was evened out.
While he was fighting Duplicate B, Rose found Jake and stepped in to fight with him. They had outnumbered the Dubleka, two to one. Together, Jake and Rose fought off Duplicate B until he was weak enough for Jake and Rose to shoot with their pistols.
Both tired and a little hurt from the fight, confusion started to fester.
"Jake... why were there four Dublekas?" Rose questioned. "There was only one the last time we were here." The thought of more Dublekas terrified Jake. Then they both wondered... was the leader Dubleka one of the four Dublekas that they had killed?
"Bravo, bravo indeed," someone said behind Jake and Rose. When Jake turned around, the leader Dubleka punched Jake in the face. He fell to the ground, hands covering his face. He did the same to Rose. "You were able to kill my four duplicate Dublekas. But can you kill me after you've already killed four of me?"
Their question was answered. Had they killed the leader Dubleka?
No.
