I saw her standing there. She was crying. She turned to me with a look of shame on her face. I wanted to ask her what was wrong, but I couldn't bring myself to speak the words.
"I killed her."
Subconsciously I tilted my head to one side. That couldn't be right, I must've heard her wrong. This time I found the breath to speak, "Wh-what?"
She said nothing.
Slowly, a body came swimming into view. My eyes focused, and I saw that a figure lay beneath her. Whoever it was was spattered with blood, and a dead look hung in their eyes.
It was a little girl.
She must've been five years old, with dark hair and smooth olive skin. Her eyes were a striking blue, but they looked as though all the life had been drained out of them.
Turning back to my friend, I saw that she had blood on her hands.
But to me, she was still beautiful.
