Song of the Day: Cigarette Daydreams, by Cage the Elephant

"That was amazing Gavin. Your plan worked so great." Farkle said, patting their newest team member on the back. "I mean, we were kind of close to the cops, but your last minute thinking was a stroke of genius. Maybe I misjudged you Gavin." He said, sitting down in the chair.
"I wish Riley would say something about it. Since we've gotten here, she's been on the phone." Lucas said. Wait. Was he looking for Riley's approval? He was supposed to be gathering evidence.
"She'll tell you why she's on the phone all the time eventually. But I need to talk to you right now. Sarah, Farkle, could you go get Chinese food?" Maya said.
"Sure. Gavin, what would you like?" Sarah asked.
"Nothing big, maybe some pork fried rice and some crab rangoons." Lucas replied. "And if they have any, I'd like a Diet Coke. Pepsi is fine, but I'd prefer Coke." He finished, and Sarah and Farkle grabbed their coats, leaving the small cabin they were staying in. "Are you going to finally tell me who you think I am Maya?" Lucas said, and Maya said.
"Years ago, there was a boy who looked like you, with lighter dirty blond or brown hair. He moved to New York from Texas. He joined our friend group. And Riley and him fell in love. Then, he left at the beginning of eighth grade, and we never saw him again."
"Does this person have a name Maya?"
"Lucas Friar."
Lucas's cover had been blown.
"What did you just say Maya?"
"I think you're Lucas Friar. I know that the real Gavin Hershe died several months back. No one else knows, don't worry, but I think Farkle is a little suspicious of who you are."
"Why do you think I'm Lucas Friar?" Lucas said.
"Not only do you look similar, but you have similar qualities. That and I searched through your stuff and I found an I.D. saying Lucas Friar. I think the best thing I saw, is a different badge. Mr. Perfect, Hopalong, Bucky McBoing Boing, Sundance became a federal agent, working for the FBI."
"Not to loud Maya." Lucas said, covering her mouth. "No one can know."
"What are you doing here then?" Maya asked.
"They know about your little team. I was sent to infiltrate and get enough evidence so we could put you all in Federal Prison for Life." Lucas admitted. "And I'm going to be in so much trouble."
"Don't worry, I'm doing the exact same thing." Maya said, pulling out a badge with her name clearly printed out. Three letters caught Lucas's eye.
"You're CIA?"
"I could never tell Riley. So when this happened, they needed someone who Riley trusted to get on the inside. You don't know how terrible it is, lying to your best friend every day. They've tried telling me she was never really my friend, but we've been best friends since we were four."
"I'm so sorry Maya. It must be awful." Lucas said.
"You have no idea. I hate lying to her." Maya said. "Looking her in the eye, there are days I just want to burst into tears and tell her the truth. But I can't. And I never can."
"I hate lying to her too. When I first saw your names in the files, I was praying that it wasn't you guys. Because for the year that I was in New York, I never had so much fun, or crazy, or love, or friendship. My heart shattered when I had to leave you guys. And that I'm saying this sounds so gay."
"No Lucas, it doesn't. I like how you're being honest and showing your emotions. It's okay. I'm not going to make fun of you like I did when we were in seventh grade."
"Who are you and what have you done with Maya Hart?"
"You should tell Riley who you are before it's too late." Maya suddenly said. Lucas looked at her, shocked. They both knew that he couldn't do that, yet she still said it. "It's too late for me when Riley finds out, but it's not too late for you. Maybe she'll forgive you."
"I can't tell her Maya." Lucas said, and Maya frowned.
"I know. I just think that it's unfair for her to be lied to all the time. So Lucas, tell me, how exactly did we get away from MI6 and the British police. I know there's something you're not telling me."
"Can't a guy have a secret?"
"You have way too many secrets Friar. So, what did you do?" Maya said, leaning in.
"I had the rest of my team put a few calls in. Does Riley know that her Uncle is FBI? Because he lied to the Director so he would let us have this case. We don't want any of you to get hurt."
"Touching." Maya said, laughing. "But you just put a few calls in? Let me guess, you're going to arrest whoever we sell it to, and return everything we stole."
"Yeah, that's kind of how it's going to work."
Maya and Lucas sat in silence for a minute. Riley was getting closer to the door, they could hear her footsteps. She was still on the phone. Suddenly, the front door opened, and Farkle and Sarah walked in, carrying all of the food.
"Gavin, your food is in the black container and Maya, yours is in the white container." Sarah said, sitting down at the table with all of her food.
"Thanks." Maya and Lucas said in unison, grabbing their containers. From the corner of Lucas's eye, he could see Farkle try and make off with a Happy Meal. They must've stopped at a McDonald's on the way back to the cabin. Lucas stifled a laugh, and picked up his fork and began eating.
"Is Riley going to join us?" Farkle asked, and Maya shook her head.
"I don't know, she's been on the phone for a while." Maya said, and then she turned to Lucas. "She usually eats with us a lot. Do you want to check on her Gavin?"
"Sure." Lucas said, standing up, and he went over to Riley's bedroom, and softly knocked on the door.
