Song of the Day: Through the Ghost, by Shinedown

"Riley...Riley you need to eat something. How about a peach for my peaches? Or maybe have some of the steak cutlets and bowties that Farkle made. Their your favorite, and you know it." Maya said, sitting down on the floor next to Riley.
Since they had arrived to the safehouse, Riley hadn't left her room. Food and drink that Maya, Farkle, or Sarah remained untouched next to her. She hadn't gone up to the bathroom, or even left the floor long enough to crawl to the bed to sleep. Riley cried herself to sleep nightly, curled up in a ball next to the wall. She didn't do anything. She didn't think anything.
Riley. Was. Broken.
And the only solution to the problem was getting "Gavin" back for her.
"Come on Riley, you need to do something. You need to eat, you need to drink, otherwise you'll die. I don't want to lose you." Maya said, taking her best friends hands in her own. Riley didn't even blink, just stared off into space at the wall in front of her, mesmerized.
"That's it Riley." Maya said, and she slapped her. Riley's hand raised quickly to her face, rubbing the spot that Maya had struck. She looked at Maya, and this time, it was Maya not blinking.
"Why did you do that?" Riley said. Her voice was dry. Maya handed her the water bottle she had been holding, and Riley took a sip, not taking her eyes off of Maya, waiting for an explanation.
"Well, you needed it kiddo."
"Am I ever going to be happy again Maya?" Riley asked. Maya looked down at her, and bent down to be level with her. Maya rubbed the part of Riley's face she had hit, as some sort of apology. Riley put her hand on top of Maya's and pushed her hand away.
"Well, the last time you were like this was after Lucas moved away. You know, when we were saying goodbye, he said that even though you were asleep, he crawled into your bay window and kissed your cheek to say goodbye. Anyway, not my point. Eventually you got over it. You were in pain, you're in pain right now Riles. But you can't let that define you, promise me you won't let that define you. You are the strongest, bravest, and most happy and perky person I've ever met. Even when you got darker. Riley, it will get better." Maya paused. "I don't know what else to say."
Riley sprung up and wrapped her arms around Maya. "Maya, Gavin was the most amazing thing my life has given me, you know except you, my parents, Farkle, Lucas, Sarah, Greg, and Alice." She paused. "I can't just let him go. I need him. He makes me better."
"Whoa, what are you saying Riles?" Maya said, a hint of worry in her voice.
"Maya, we're going to break into the FBI."
"What? Riley, you've got to be kidding me." Maya said.
"No, you have your CIA clearance, and you can figure out a way to sneak us in. We'll break him out, and everything will be okay again." Riley said. "Don't you want me to be happy?"
"Oh course I want you to be happy."
"So you'll do it?"
"Are you crazy? No Riley, its not going to work. Besides, the CIA thinks I went soft. They cancelled my status as an agent, I'm technically no longer an agent. And other than that, it is way too dangerous Riley. I don't want you and me to get hurt."
"The others would be coming too. It's just like stealing paintings or a vase. Except we'd be stealing a person." Riley said, and she opened up her door, walking into the kitchen. "We're breaking into the FBI." Riley said. Sarah and Farkle looked at her, then at Maya.
"She's crazy." Maya said.
"Riley, the statistics of us getting caught and arrested are way to high. We'd just end up behind bars like Gavin." Farkle said, and Riley walked straight past him.
"You have to help me, I'm begging you." She said, dropping to her knees.
"Maya, have you tried knocking some sense into her?" Sarah asked.
"Well, I already slapped her to get up and have food. So, it might work. Try slapping her." Maya suggested. Sarah reached over, and moved her hand to slap Riley, but before Sarah could hit Riley's face, Riley grabbed her hand, stopping her.
"With or without you I will break into the FBI. No I'd prefer to do this you, but I need to do this. I love him, and I'm not just going to let him go." Riley shouted.
"Do you really know who he even is?" Farkle said. That hurt Riley more than a slap.
"Yeah. I do. So I suggest you let me go do this. Come with me if you want." Riley said, storming off into her room. A minute later, she walked out of her room, carrying a bag with her. "I'm on the first flight to D.C. Goodbye." Riley said, leaving the house.
Maya, Farkle, and Sarah shared a glance. "Come on, let's go." Maya said, and the three followed Riley outside. Riley shoved her bag into the trunk and slammed the door, turning to see her friends.
"Do you have room for three more in the car?" Sarah asked.
"You guys are coming with me?" Riley asked.
"Honestly Riley, do you really think that we would let you break into the FBI without us?" Farkle said.
"No, not a chance." Riley said, standing up to hug each of her friends in turn.
"Let's go get Gavin back." Sarah said, and they all got into the car, except Maya, who said she needed to grab her CIA badge inside.
Maya picked up the landline and dialled an old cell phone number. She hoped it would still work.
"Hello?" A voice said.
"Josh. It's Maya. I need to talk to you." Maya yelled through the phone.
"Calm down Maya. What is it?" Josh replied.
"Riley thinks that her Gavin is being held at the FBI headquarters in D.C. She's planning on breaking into the FBI. We have to stop her. She can't find Lucas, Lucas will only hurt her. When she realises its Lucas, she will have an even worse breakdown then she's already had. You have to help me."
"Will do. See you soon Maya." Josh said, hanging up.
Hopefully I can stop her before it's too late, Maya thought, grabbing her CIA badge and running out to the car, hopping in the front seat of Riley's convertible.
