Song of the Day: Desperate Measures, by Marianas Trench (one of my favorite songs).

"Josh!" Maya said, Lucas's comms unit feeling strange in her own ear. There was a grumble on the other end. Maya could hear Josh stirring, not really awake.  "Come on Josh, wake up!" Maya said, and this time, she could hear someone moving.

"Maya?" A voice whispered, and Maya instantly knew that it was Josh.

"Yeah." Maya said, her throat getting drier by the second. She was nervous. She knew that she shouldn't be doing this, but she just couldn't help herself. "Can we meet?"

"Where?" Josh answered. Years back, he would've asked why, and every once in awhile might have answered where. Now, it was just where. Maya had to think quickly.

"We're staying at a campground right across the Oregon border. Can we meet maybe in a town at the border. Maybe Rowena. It's not that far from here, and I'm sure that you've been following us." Maya said, and she crossed her fingers, actually hoping.

"I can do Rowena. There's got to be a McDonalds there. We can meet at the McDonalds as fast as we can. Maybe get burgers." Josh said, and Maya smiled.

"Let's do it." She said, and she ran off, getting in one of the cars, which they had stashed there before taking the van to Seattle. She hopped in one of them and turned the ignition. About 20 minutes later, she pulled into the McDonalds in Rowena. She saw Josh sitting inside a van.

"Zay is tied up in the backseat, but it won't matter anyways. He's a deep sleeper, didn't even feel me tying him up. We were on a plane to O'Hara and he slept through all the turbulence, and Lucas and I sticking French fries up his nose." Josh said.

"Disgusting." Maya replied, and they hopped in the shortest line ever, as other than the employees, they were the only ones there. They took their food went back to Maya's car.

"What's with you girls and salads?" Josh asked, and Maya looked up at him.

"What? I thought we were ordering for each other." She said, handing him the salad. "The salad is for Sarah, as she's going to eventually notice that I'm gone and I'm going to need to bribe her. While you were in the bathroom, I got a Big Mac." She said, pulling the burger out from behind her back.

"And you said I couldn't spend over five dollars on my meal." Josh said.

"I didn't mean that you had to order four things off the dollar menu, and keep the change after tax." Maya said, and they both burst out laughing together.

"Why'd you want to meet Maya?" Josh said.

"Remember when we were young. And I had a crush on you. I wanted to apologize."

"Why would you be apologizing?"

"Because you were right."

"No Maya, I couldn't have been more wrong." Josh said, putting his hand underneath Maya's chin. He lifted her chin up and he gently kissed her on the lips.

After a minute, Maya broke away from the kiss. "Josh."

"You don't know exactly how long I've wanted to do that."

"How long?"

"I don't know, I lost track."

Josh and Maya just sat in silence for a few minutes, every once in awhile one of them would pick at their food, it was kind of awkward. Josh finally spoke up.

"Why do I get the feeling that that isn't the real reason why you wanted to meet?" Josh asked, and Maya frowned at him, and he suddenly realised what was going on.

"I had the CIA send me the transcripts of your case. Josh, I've been holding off killing Riley, Farkle, and Sarah for these last three years. And they've sent you guys because they believed I couldn't do it anymore. And they terminated my status as a CIA agent." She paused. "Josh, from what you guys have given the FBI, they've made a final decision. Lucas will have to kill us all." She paused again. "Would Lucas really kill us?" Maya asked, looking at Josh.

"I don't know." Josh said. "I don't think you would. He's my best friend. And he also used to be one of your best friends. Think Maya. you know the answer." Josh said.

"So, what happen now?" Maya asked.

"I don't know." Josh said.

"I'm going to have to go back eventually."

"Do you have to go?"

"Yeah, I do."

"Can we just stay like this for a minute longer?" Josh asked, and Maya leaned closer to him, and relaxed her head against him. It was perfect.

"We'll be like this eventually. One day." Maya said, and she kissed Josh. "Go. I'll try and talks via comms soon. Maybe we can meet up again." Josh nodded and left the car. Maya didn't leave until she saw him get into his van and pull out of the McDonalds driveway.

Maya took her time driving back to the campground, eating her Big Mac. Once she pulled into the parking lot, she tossed the rest of her burger into the nearest trash can.

"I would've had better luck with the salad. Or a baconator from Wendy's." Maya muttered to herself, carrying the salad into the tent with her. Sarah was sitting up in bed, reading.

"You're back." Sarah said, not taking her eyes off of her book.

"I brought you a salad." Maya replied.

"Ranch dressing?" Sarah asked.

"No, Italian." Maya said, handing the salad to Sarah.

"Go brush your teeth. I don't want to have to smell bacon, hamburger, lettuce, onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and why do I smell chicken on your breath, you didn't get  nuggets."

"You have an insane imagination." Maya said, grabbing her toothbrush from her stuff.

"No, I have an insane sense of smell, and I smell chicken, but you didn't order chicken."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"You were with somebody, talk."

"It was just somebody I met from one of the other tents. It's fine." Maya said, walking out of the tent to go to the bathrooms to brush her teeth. After brushing her teeth, she  crawled back into bed and fell asleep, dreaming of Josh.
