Song of the Day: Alone Together, by Fall Out Boy

"Are you going to let go of your grip and trip backwards, falling onto my lap like you did all those years ago?" Lucas asked, sitting in the same seat as he did all those years ago. Riley did a circle around the pole, and faced Lucas. She didn't smile this time.
"Not this time Friar." Riley said, letting go of the pole. As she tried walking towards him, the subway skidded to a halt and she stumbled, falling into Lucas's lap. He smiled at her. "That was an accident. Merely just a coincidence." She said, lifting herself off of Lucas and sitting in the seat next to him.
"I liked coincidences better you know. And did you just say a synonym for just right before saying just?" Lucas asked, and Riley blushed a little.
"My grammar isn't as good as it used to be Friar. I try harder when I'm around my daughter."
"How's Alice?" Lucas asked, and Riley scoffed.
"Alice is doing well. I am doing well too, thank you for asking how I was." She replied.
"You still have the same sense of sarcasm. Maya taught you well. And I was going to ask you how you were doing after I asked about Alice." Lucas said, almost no emotion in his voice.
"Sure you were Lucas." Riley said. Lucas held her hands, and she couldn't move.
"I'm going to have to kill you at the end of the night." Lucas said. His voice was dry, no emotion at all. His eyes stared blankly at her, and Riley shook her head.
"Who said I won't kill you first?" Riley said, leaning into his ear, whispering. The subway stopped at Lucas handed something to Riley, and she looked down at her hands, and nodded slowly. Riley took his hand and led them off of the subway, and they went up the stairs. "Central park?"
"I still have some surprises left in me." Lucas said, and they scaled the fence of the park. Once deep in the park not to be notice, Lucas stopped and they climbed a tree.
"A last supper?" Riley said, as Lucas pulled a picnic basket from the branch above them.
"With all of your seventh grade favorites." Lucas said, opening the basket. "For you, we have mozzarella stick with marinara as an appetizer. For entree, we have spaghetti tacos with a side of corn tossed in butter, salt, and pepper. And we even have homemade chocolate fudge brownies, vanilla bean ice cream from Friendly's, and hot fudge which may not be so hot anymore, since it was in with the chilled ice cream." Lucas said, and Riley laughed.
"I forgot how much you liked to cook." Riley admitted. "Why did you move, I never gave you the chance to explain yourself." Riley said, taking a bite of a mozzarella stick.
"My dad got a new job. I had no choice." Lucas explained. "I kind of wish I never left. We missed so many years." He said, and Riley sighed.
"Imagine how different things would be. I might not have had Alice. And if I did, you might've been her father." Riley joked, and Lucas laughed. "I wouldn't have changed so drastically. Lucas, after you left, I became somewhat of a troublemaker. Maya became the 'New Riley.'"
"You will always be my Riley." Lucas said. "I never stopped loving you Riley."
"I love you too." Riley said, and she grabbed the sides of his face and pulled him closer to her. Her lips rested on Lucas's for a minute, their foreheads touching as well. Lucas licked Riley's lips and she allowed him to enter her mouth, and they kissed deeply, exploring the depths of each others mouths.
"I'm sorry." Lucas said, breaking away from the kiss.
"I know." Riley said, and they kissed again, her wrapping her hands around his neck.
"Our food is going to get cold." Lucas pointed out.
"We can cook again later." Riley said. "But right now, I just want to be alone together." She finished. Lucas grabbed ahold of Riley's hands and squeezed them gently.
"How long?" Lucas asked, and Riley checked the Louis Vuitton watch on her wrist.
"An hour." Riley said.
"How shall we kill time if we have an hour?" Lucas asked. "I know, we could eat this beautiful meal that I made for you that we're wasting." He said, and Riley frowned, but they finished eating the food he had made for them in under fifteen minutes.
"Thank you Lucas." Riley said. "This night had been unforgettable."
"I know." Lucas replied. "Who else get's a better Death Day?"
Riley burst out laughing. "Nearly-Headless Nick." She answered, and Lucas laughed.
"I meant any non-fictional character." Lucas said, and he booped Riley on the nose, wiping off whipped cream and sticking his finger in his mouth.
"I can play boop too now." Riley said, and she reached over to boop him, but he moved and her finger went up his nose. Riley looked repulsed and embarrassed at the same time, and wiped her finger on her jeans, and then Lucas smiled, leaning over to kiss her.
"Lucas. There's one thing I know we still haven't talked about. I know you nobody attacked Maya, because Maya would've come home more broken. But what happened that night?"
"I recognized Alice's father in the picture that you showed me. And I've been friends with this kid forever, and he's even on my team at the FBI, along with your Uncle Josh." Lucas paused. "I took Maya and we drove to where I knew they were hiding. I beat him Riley."
"Oh Lucas." Riley said, rubbing the side of her face, and she glimpsed at her watch. "It's almost time, we have to go. Get in position." Riley said, and they hopped down from the tree, running into one of the empty fields. Riley stood about twenty feet away from Lucas. She smiled at him, and they mouthed the words I love you to each other.
