"Yes," I heard myself say. When I woke up and realized what he just asked me, I said, "oh my gosh, yes." I quickly threw my arms around his torso and hugged him tightly.
When I let go, Xiumin grabbed my face with his hands and pressed his lips against mine. It felt different from when he kissed me before, several weeks ago. Several weeks ago, kissing Xiumin felt lustful and wrong. Tonight, it felt right.
His hands slipped to my waist as we kissed passionately, and he lifted up my tshirt for his hands to go inside. I suddenly broke away and grabbed his hands. "What?" He asked, a look of true concern on his face.
"Uh, your hands are cold," I said.
"Sorry."
"And...I just want to take things slow."
"Really?" Xiumin asked.
"Yeah."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah. Hopefully you don't have a problem with it.. I mean, you shouldn't." I tried seeming like I was certain of what I wanted.
Xiumin smiled, laughing through his nose. "Just more reasons why I like you so much," Xiumin said. "I think going slow is a good idea." He leaned in and kissed my forehead.
The next thing I knew, I woke up beside Xiumin, wrapped in his arms, the sunlight beating down on us. I looked at him sleeping. I could get used to this.
I thought of what my parents said about marriage. Marrying Xiumin seemed like a dream that would never happen. I mean, so did dating him, but come on. Marriage? So many people don't even get married anymore. With the divorce rate at 50%...and with him being famous, that just makes it worse.
I glanced at Xiumin's stomach as he slept. I ran fingers along his stomach, feeling the indents of his abs. When I got to the end of his shirt, I slowly began to lift it up, to take a peak.
A hand grabbed mine. I looked at Xiumin's face. "Were you fake sleeping?" I asked.
"Of course," he said with a smile. "Not today, Amy. You have cold hands, if you know what I mean."
"What?" I asked.
"Come on, I know why you said that last night. It's because you didn't want me to go any farther with you. Is that going to be our thing now?"
"You're an idiot," I laughed, laying my head back on his chest. "I know I'm 21, but my parents are going to question me for being out all night with you."
"Hmm," he exhaled. "Help me understand.. You are 21. You've been through college, out of the country.."
"We're all a Christian family. I guess the morals just continue to stick with me," I explained.
"Oh, makes sense now."
I flinched. I didn't want to seem like a good little church girl, but it was going to happen anyway. "And even if I wasn't raised the way I was, we're not in the point of our relationship we should be doing anything.."
Xiumin laughed softly, holding me tighter. "I know."
My phone rang. "It's Kai," I said out loud.
"What's this about?" Xiumin asked.
"I don't know, but you're not here. Got it?" I answered. "Kai, what's up?"
"Are you coming to the airport?"
"That's tomorrow."
"Oh. I thought it was today we fly back."
"Today I fly back. Just enjoy your day, okay? Bye." I hung up. "He thought we were leaving today."
"Oh. But we are, aren't we?" Xiumin asked.
"Yeah."
"I feel bad that I basically slept away the whole break."
I started getting up, but stopped when he said that and looked at him. "You're kidding, right? You needed that sleep. Don't tell me otherwise. Come on, we need to head back to my house and pack."
As I drove back, Xiumin was looking out his window. "I like this. The Midwest."
I laughed. "No you don't."
"Yeah, I do. I think I could live here."
I felt his eyes on me now. I just stared at the road, as my eyes widened. "You'll get culture shock."
"You did it."
I rolled my eyes, not that Xiumin could see from his angle. "No, Xiumin. That's really cute of you to say that, but I'm not moving back to the Midwest."
"Why not? It seems like a nice place to raise a family."
I stepped on the brake. We were on gravel roads, so the jeep slide to a stop, making an awful noise. I looked at Xiumin, who I had startled. "What are you doing?" I asked.
"I was talking? What's wrong?"
"No, like what are you saying? You're not just saying this to make small talk," I said.
"Okay, well, I've been doing some thinking lately."
"About?!"
"Leaving Exo."
"What."
"Before you get mad at me, you need to listen to me," Xiumin said. "And I need you to not freak out when I tell you. Promise me you won't cry, because I feel like you will."
No one travels on these gravel roads, so I just turned off the jeep and looked at him. "Okay.." I said, my voice softer.
Xiumin glanced down at my right hand, and took it in his hand and held it. He looked back up at me. "Before break, I went to see the doctor. I never feel well, but this was different. I was getting chest pains and passing out..more than you knew. You only saw me faint once, there during practice, but I was fainting all the time. In my room, during workouts, any time of the day. I was just lucky for you to never be around when it happened. D.O was going to tell you, but I told him not to. Now I'm being honest. Amy...I have a heart condition, and if I don't get out of Exo soon, I could be dead in 10 years. Or less."
