I walked out of Kim J's office. I held a familiar key in my hand, to the room I lived in months ago.
This was my plan.
But it wasn't my plan to be stuck here for a year. That even counted tours...and time away from Xiumin.
Xiumin was waiting for me in the lounge. "Hey," he said, standing up and walking to me. "Everything worked out?"
I nodded. "I need to move in my stuff."
"I'll help you."
"No, you don't have to-"
Xiumin made a face. "Amy, what's wrong?"
We were walking together, and I momentarily stopped. "What?"
"Something's wrong. Tell me."
"I'm just tired, okay?" I made up as I went. "I still can't help but feel that I betrayed BTS."
Xiumin nodded slowly, accepting my answer.
Hours later, I was finally moved in. I wanted so badly to tell Xiumin the truth, but I couldn't. I definitely couldn't. We packed up what was remaining in Xiumin's room and got a taxi to go back to his apartment. I stayed pretty quiet the whole time.
After we brought in the boxes from his dorm room, Xiumin exhaled. "Let's have dinner."
"What me to help?" I asked.
"Nah, I want to eat out."
"Okay," I said.
When we arrived at the restaurant, the waiter led us over to a window booth. "So," Xiumin said, getting out the menu and looking at it. "How long do you think you'll need to get Minhyuk out of there?"
I opened up my menu and started reading it. "Who knows," I said. "It could be a week, or a month...or a year."
"A year? You think?"
I coughed. I don't even know on what, but I started coughing.
"Are you okay?" Xiumin asked.
"What? Yeah, I just need water." I ran my hand through my hair. The waiter came back, and asked what we wanted in Korean.
"What do you want?" Xiumin asked me, in English. "I'll order for you."
"I got this," I smiled. I told the waiter what I wanted in Korean. I looked back at Xiumin, his mouth hanging open. He told the waiter what he wanted, and then thew waiter left. "Amy."
"Yes?" I said, still speaking in Korean.
"You know Korean now?" Xiumin asked, still in English. I nodded. "I've been seeing you over a week now, and you've never spoken in Korean or mentioned that you learned it."
"It's hard when you all speak English to me," I defended.
Xiumin shook his head. "Why did you learn Korean?"
"Because Namjoon was the only one who spoke English confidently to me. My boss told me I didn't really need to learn Korean, but I wanted to to be able to communicate to the members."
He laughed. "As much as I'm proud of you, I won't be speaking Korean with you. I need to be really good at English to live in America."
My eyes widened.
"I was asking how long you'd be at SM Entertainment because I've changed my mind on what I'm going to be doing here. I have a semester left of university, and then I'll have my masters. I want to teach music." He was smiling.
