Although I was running on adrenaline now, from being so nervous, I scanned the room for Xiumin. I found him, and our eyes met. "Amelia!" They all began to exclaim, and gathered around me, hugging me. I was overwhelmed by how happy they were to see me.
"Where's your manager?" I asked, careful of bringing her up. I didn't want them thinking that we were friends or anything.
"Who knows. She's never around, and when she is, it's absolute hell," Kai explained. "Gosh, you need to come back and replace her." He hugged me tightly. It seemed almost affectionate, not like a bully like he used to be. Kai seemed to really miss me.
"Frankly, I'm surprised you lasted this long at Big Hit," D.O said with a smile when he walked over to me, giving me a gentle hug. "You were always getting in trouble over here."
"I'm on a team of managers," I explained. "I can lay low a lot."
"Loved the comeback," Baekhyun said, giving me a quick side hug. "Love Taehyung...that kid." I smiled at Baekhyun acknowledging his "child". "Our comeback is coming up, did you hear?"
I nodded. "That's exciting."
"Yeah. We've been working hard," Baekhyun said.
Chanyeol came over to me and hugged me like nothing happened earlier. "Are you well?" I asked him quietly, when everyone else was talking among themselves.
"Don't worry about me. Go talk to Xiumin," Chanyeol told me. I looked to my left and saw Xiumin awkwardly standing around. He had his hair that brown color and parted down the middle. It reminded me of when we dated earlier in the year.
"Hey," Xiumin said, as if he had been waiting for his turn. I bit my lip, and immediately threw my arms around his neck and hugged him. He seemed surprised by this, but then I felt his arms eventually wrap around my waist, hugging me back.
"I don't want you to die..everything we talked about in America.."
"Sounds like a wonderful dream. I keep holding on to it. I don't want you to leave. Please..I need you to be here with me."
Remembering our last conversation with each other made me want to hold on longer. "I'm so sorry."
Xiumin pulled me away from him. "Let's go somewhere and talk." He held my hand and pulled me out of the room, to the hallway. The place was really beginning to empty out, so not many people were around and bothersome. He looked at me. "Wow, you look really pretty."
"Thank you. You look...really nice," I said. "Handsome. I love your hair like that."
Xiumin smiled a little. "Thanks." He looked at me, nonchalantly checking me out. "You look really beautiful."
"Are you....well?" I asked. I wasn't sure I wanted to know.
"I've been on medication," he said. "I just feel dead all the time. Sometimes I don't remember things." When he noticed my eyes get big, he started talking again. "No, not like that. Just daily things. I'll forget conversations...um, the other day, I forgot I brushed my teeth? So I brushed them again. Stuff like that. Nothing long term."
"Are you fainting every day?"
Xiumin exhaled. "Not like I used to. I do still have those spells where I can't breathe, but usually I can see it coming and usually I can avoid it, if the staff lets me. Tonight I came really close, so I walked off stage when it wasn't my turn to sing. Like during Drop That. I wasn't on stage half the time."
I nodded slowly.
Xiumin looked into my eyes, his eyebrows raised. It was cute. "Tell me what you're thinking."
"I'm just..." I exhaled, looking away. "I worry about you all the time. I should have moved on by now."
"Oh.."
"I guess what I'm trying to say is, that...I miss you. I shouldn't have left. But...I also couldn't watch you hurting because of me."
"Hey, you have your own band to take care of now," Xiumin said. "With that comeback, obviously you're doing a good job. And they look well -"
"You know what? You look well too, from on stage," I snapped. I immediately felt bad. "I'm sorry."
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I'm worried about them too. Like Jimin...Jan Di keeps calling him fat and tells him not to eat. Jan Di is the other manager. I'm afraid he's believing her. And he's so thin."
Xiumin exhaled. "I've been hearing that a lot too."
"What? Shana calls you fat?"
He nodded. "I have gained a little weight, like five pounds. Okay, ten. No more than ten. But I have to eat for strength. That not eating game to stay thin only works for a short while before your body shuts down. He's going to have no strength."
"You look good," I said. "I didn't even notice. But you were kind of thin when I met you."
"I suppose I was."
"I know you have a comeback coming up, but.."
"But?"
"Do you...know...if you'll leave EXO?"
Xiumin exhaled, rolling his eyes. "No. I think I'll stick it out. Contract ends in 2019. I'll last."
"Gosh, Xiumin!" I exclaimed. "You can't keep living like this! And you have military service in 2019. You need to be healthy."
"You know, maybe you shouldn't have come here," Xiumin said. "It's my life. I can't put my band through that - they are like brothers to me."
"I just want you to be okay!" I exclaimed. "I get so worried about you, and -"
"Do you know how much you mean to me?!" Xiumin asked, and then he grabbed my face and kissed me passionately. He was really tense at first, but then his hands loosened from my face and slid down to my waist as I wrapped my hands around his neck. He stopped kissing me. "I love you, Amy."
I could have cried. "I love you too," I said, and leaned in to kiss him again. He kissed back, and we both kissed each other as if it would be our last time.
It wasn't just me. It was Xiumin too.
"Amelia?" A voice called from down the hallway.
We stopped, and backed away as Minhyuk walked up to us. "Minseok, this is Minhyuk, the other manager I work with. Minhyuk, this is-"
"I know who that is," Minhyuk said. "So you ditched BTS for EXO, and to cheat on me."
My eyes widened as I looked at Xiumin. His soft face turned stern. "You're dating someone?" He asked me.
"Not...really..." I looked at Minhyuk. "We're not....like...exclusive?"
"The way you kissed me sure made me feel like it was exclusive."
"Shit," I muttered quietly. "No." I looked at Xiumin.
"Have a nice life," Xiumin said. "Good luck with the rest of the year, stay healthy." He walked away.
"Come on, let's go," Minhyuk said, grabbing my wrist. I pulled it away. Minhyuk looked mad. "Come on."
"I told you to go on without me!"
"You really thought I would do that? I want to make sure you're safe."
I started walking away. Because of the high heels, Minhyuk quickly caught up to me. "He said 'have a nice life'," I told Minhyuk. "So I kind of hate you right now."
"You have to move on," MInhyuk said, grabbing my wrist and making me look at him. "That relationship with Xiumin ended months ago. People change. You changed-"
"And he's dying. Okay? Don't speak to me the rest of the night," I said, walking on.
