~Girl in the meadow~

~Not really sad, but a good ending. It'll be kind of like the one for my other story Beautiful Mess, but of course this ending is different~

For years I watched as everything turned back to normal. For years I watch my family become a family again. My sister grew up into a beautiful young lady. She had a baby and named her after me. Little Kenzie.

And then I watched over my boyfriend. Well he's moved on now and has married someone named Esther. She's a nice lady. They have a daughter named Lillian. Her middle name McKenzie. Joey, my boyfriend, want to at least have my name in his daughters name and so he used it as a middle name. Joey still thinks about me.

How I know, is he still visits my grave and talks to me. It's where he's going today too. He's taking his daughter. Esther doesn't go, because she doesn't want to make it awkward, because she didn't know me, but heard about my murder. I will ways watch over Joey and his family. I wait at the grave and see his car as he pulls uo, but this time just himself. He didn't bring Lillian. He walked up to my grave and smiled.

"Hi beautiful. I know it's been 12 years now, but I can still picture you of when you were still alive. I know I probably say this a lot, but I still love you. You'll always be my first love. McKenzie I wish you were still alive, but I guess you had to leave this world soon and that wasn't fair, but I brought you a flower. It's your favorite." I watch as he takes out a beautiful rose and places it on my grave. Tears filled my eyes as I watch him start to cry. He really does miss me.

"I love you so much," he said. My heart fluttered.

"I love you too Joey." I see his head snap up and he looked around.

"McKenzie?" I gasp. Did he hear me? He needs to know I'm here.

"Joey." I see his eyes meet mine.

"Your here," he said. I smile and nod.

"I was always there. When you got married, when you had Lillian, whenever you visit my grave, or whenever you cry. I am always there," I told him.

"I knew you were. I miss you. A lot," he said. I gave him a sad smile.

"I know lovely, but just remember that I'll ways be in your heart and in the air around you. Knowing that you still love me makes me happy and I'm so glad you found love again. I wish you a long and happy life." And I could see myself disappearing from this world back to my own.

~Joey's P.O.V~

I drive back home smiling. The thought and feeling of seeing McKenzie one last time was a relief. It was good to know she was still watching and has always been watching. I got out and head inside of my house.

"How was your visit?" I heard Esther ask.

"It was good. I'll be upstairs," I said. I run up the stairs and into my study office. I open my drawing book and begin my new sketch. I sketched her. I sketched my love McKenzie in the meadow of the cemetery. Her beautiful brown hair, her green eyes, white milky skin, and her beautiful face. When I finished I showed Esther. Esther knew I still loved McKenzie. My feelings wouldn't very change. When I went back to my study I set my sketch down and sat in my chair.

"Daddy?" I saw Lillian.

"Hi sweetie what do you need?" I ask her.

"Can you tell me the story of the girl in your meadow?" She asked m. I smile.

"Of course. It began with a girl. She was walking in a meadow. It was filled with flowers. Different kinds so to say. On that day she saw a man crying. The girl asked the man what was wrong. He answered her saying that he misses his love who died long ago. The girl said thay for she was the girl who died long ago. The man couldn't believe his eyes. But she said it was possible for some spirits to show that they are still watching. The girls name was McKenzie. She told the man that she was always watching over his family, like a guardian angel, that she loves the way we live. And that's the end."

"Daddy I think McKenzie watches over us. Do you still love her?" She asked. I nod.

"She was my first love, but I'll always love mommy too. Now go to bed love. You look tired." She yawned and I watch as she left to her room.

"I love you too," a voice echoed through the room. I knew it was McKenzie's. I smile. She'll always be watching.
