Part 12 》California

"We are both like little tiny knots, but the good thing is that we can't ever be untied."

"Shai I'm going to miss you a lot, how long are you going to be gone?" Theo asks. I pull out some of my t-shirts out from my dresser and I fold them into my suitcase. "About a week." I reply.

My mother is getting surgery, this week and I decided that I'm going to take care of her, of course with the help of my brother and grandma. But I wanted to help out and be there for her.

"Do you want me to take you to the airport tomorrow?" He asks. I sit down on the bed next to him. "Yeah, that would be great. My flight leaves at nine, so we should leave here around seven."

I have to admit I'm going to miss Theo, like a lot. But it's only one week, I can survive. Theo pulls me into his arms and I lay my head on his chest, while he rubs my back.

"Cmon, let's get some sleep. Since you have to get up early tomorrow." Theo says. I put my suitcase on the floor and change into a t-shirt and shorts that I laid out.

Once I'm changed, I get under the covers and Theo cradles me in his arms. He shuts the light off behind him and I eventually fall asleep.

"You sure you got everything?" Says Theo. I nod at him and I hand him my last bag to put into the trunk.

I get into the passengers seat and Theo gets into the drivers seat and we head off to the airport.

The whole way to the airport, we didn't say a word. I know he's upset that I'm leaving. But I have to leave, to see my mother.

Theo opens the trunk and pulls out my suitcase. Then he hands me my red book bag and I put it over my shoulders.

Then Theo pulls out another suitcase. I don't have another suitcase? Wait what...

"Theo?" I ask. He just smiles at me. "Are you coming with me to California?" I ask.

"Yes, I wanted it to be a surprise love and well you figured it out." He softly says. He cups my face with his thumbs and leaves a kiss on my forehead.

"Do you wanna get some breakfast first?" He asks. I nod at him. Usually airport food isn't the best. But we have an hour left before they start to call our gate.

We're both like tiny little knots.

We have been on the plane for about three hours now, and we have about two more hours to go.

The plane isn't as crowded as I thought it would be. I was expecting a lot of more people but I guessed wrong.

Theo has met my mother but he hasn't met my brother nor went to semi valley California.

So it'll be interesting to see how he reacts to where I grew up at and my life style. My mom's surgery is in two days, so I will get some time to spend time with her before she gets it.

"Are you excited?" I ask. I lean my head on his shoulder. "Excited for what love?" He asks.

"Too see where I grew up silly." He lets out a short laugh, then smirks at me. "Well of course I am, I'm very excited."

Theo hands me my suitcase, while I put my book bag on my shoulders. The hot sun shines in my face, along with a cool breeze.

"Shailene!" I hear my mother shout. I run up to her and I wrap my arms around her. I haven't seen her in months and I miss her dearly.

"It's so good to see you mom." I say. We pull back and she smiles at me. "Your getting more and more beautiful every time I see you."

"Thank you Mom." I smile back at her. She touches my short blonde hair. "Your hair is getting so long, it looks so pretty."

"I know, I got a small trim right before filming started to make it healthy." She pats my shoulder and she smiles when she notices Theo.

"Oh you brought Theo!" She exclaims. She walks over to him and gives him a small hug. "Hello Theo, how are you? I haven't seen you for awhile."

"Yeah, he decided he wanted to help out." I say while walking over to him. "Good. It's nice to see you too Mrs. Woodley." I hear Theo say.

"Oh please call me Lori Theo, your practically family now. Anyways let's go inside." My mother says. I grab my suitcase and follow her inside.

Once we get inside, I plant my stuff on the couch. I see Tanner walk downstairs. I walk over to him and give him a hug. "How was finials Tanner?" I ask.

Tanner is still in highschool. He only got a couple years left it'll he graduates. "Good. How has acting been?" He asks. I tell him it has been good and that we're haft way done filming.

Then Tanner notices Theo. "This is Theo, he is my co-star in the divergent series and he is also my boyfriend." I tell my brother.

"Your boyfriend? When did you two start dating?" He ask. "Awhile ago, anyways we're going to head upstairs and unpack."

Tanner nods and I motion Theo to follow me upstairs.

Once we reach my bedroom, I turn the light on. My bedroom has hot pink walls, and hardwood flooring along with a big white carpet in the middle of the room.

My walls have poka dot borders and I have a queen size bed, along with poka dot comforter. Theo takes a look around my room.

"So this is where you grew up?" He asks. I nod at him. "Yeah, this was my childhood."

He smirks at me and then says "Nice.". I wrap my arms around his neck. "So why did you come with me to California?" I ask.

"Well I wanted to help out your mother but I also wanted to be with you because the both of us are like tiny little knots, but the good thing is that we can never be untied." He softly says. I plant a kiss onto his soft lips. "I love you." I whisper.

"I love you too." He says back. We just stay there for a couple minutes looking into each other eyes. Then I hear my mother calling us down for dinner.

After dinner, we decide to get changed and head to bed. But I have realized that no matter what we can never be untied.
