High Tension

When I left the house, I didn't go very far.  For an hour, I drove around town, bought some groceries and pie.  Then I came back.  I watched them through the window, not knowing if I dared to go in yet.  I knew I would be able to hear them...I have keen hearing.

Sam, Dean, and Bobby finished reading the journals.  Dean slowly closed the journal he held in his hands and looked over at Sam and Bobby.  Sam snorted and smiled a small smile before looking at Dean.  Bobby didn't look at either one of the boys.  Instead he looked at the ceiling.

Dean leaned forward on the couch and put his arms on his knees.  "You knew about this Bobby?"

Bobby now looked at Dean.  "Yes I did."

Dean looked slightly offended.  "Then why didn't you tell us?"

Bobby just shook his head.  "You don't understand Dean."

Sam looked at Bobby.  "Then try to explain it to us."

Bobby sighed and I choose this as my time to enter.  All three looked up at me as I opened the door and carried the groceries into the house.  I held the pie out to Dean.  I knew he loved pie.  He looked at it for a moment and then snorted.

He looked up into my eyes.  "You really expect to take that from you?  What is it poisoned?  You're a monster...and I'm not eating that."

I shrugged off the hurt...but it still hurt.  I knew that I could never let Dean see how much that hurt.  So I carried it to the kitchen with the groceries.  I could feel three sets of eyes on me as I put all of the groceries away.

I turned around and walked back into the living room.  "You know, I really expected you guys to be over the shock all ready."

Dean snorted.  "Oh yeah?  Well I'm sorry if I don't take too well to monsters bringing me pie."

I sighed.  "Dean...I never expected you to understand me or to even like me.  I expected you to accept me.  After all, you can't tell me that you never realized that something was off about me."

Dean stood up and got right up in my face.  "Oh I realized that you were off.  I just wasn't expecting you to be a human-eating leviathan."

I turned my face away as Sam stood up and pulled Dean away.  He looked at me as he said, "Dean, to be fair, she never ate any humans."

Dean yelled, "Yeah that's what she said!  Did it never occur to you that she could be lying?"

Sam shrugged.  "So what if she is, Dean?  She saved my bacon back there.  She deserves our trust at least."

Dean glared at me.  "She doesn't deserve anything."

I snorted and walked up to Dean.  Sam looked at me nervously.  "I'm not gonna hurt him Sam.  You can relax,"  I paused and looked at Dean, "You're right Dean, I don't deserve anything.  I'm a monster after all.  I don't get handouts.  But I've earned your trust."

Dean shook his head.  "You haven't earned anything."

I sighed again.  "You're so difficult."

Dean was at his breaking point.  I could feel the tension in the room skyrocket.  Bobby and Sam were both looking at Dean, trying to see what he would do next.  They knew he was upset...and I was baiting him.  It wasn't the best idea, admittedly, but violence was one of the few things Dean would understand.

And I needed to teach him a lesson about me and respect.
