Admitting Defeat

I'm really sorry for the long wait.  I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with the story and I'm still not sure.

Anyway here's an update.  Enjoy.

--------------------------------------------------------

When I woke up, the bed seemed empty. When I looked, I saw that Kieran had indeed left me while I slept. I felt much better now than I had earlier, so I tried to get up. I discovered that I was no longer light-headed or dizzy. In fact, I felt much more like my usual self. So I got dressed in a pair of jeans and a plain black T-shirt. Then I went downstairs.

Unlike last time, this time there was no sound coming from downstairs. I crept silently around the rooms, trying to find out where everyone was. Inside the house was completely silent. The next place to look was outside. Out amongst the cars, I found them all having a talk while Dean fixed his car.

I walked over to them. "What's going on? Why are you all out here?"

Dean gave me a quick smile before shrugging. "I'm glad to see you're feeling better. To answer your question, it's a nice day and I wanted to work on my baby."

I nodded before looking at Bobby, Sam and Kieran. Bobby sighed. "We just have some business to take care of."

I crossed my arms over my chest. "What kind of business?"

Sam sighed. "Killing Dick Roman."

Kieran walked over to me and cupped my face in his hand. "We don't want you getting hurt, Meara."

I nodded. "I know...but you could still use me."

Kieran shook his head. "No. I've already put you in danger once. I won't do it again."

"I'll still be in danger now."

Bobby looked confused. "Why?"

Sam answered for me. "Dick Roman now knows that she, the queen, is alive. If the word gets out, he will no longer be the top dog. And she's the only one that could probably stop him single-handedly."

Bobby picked up a rock and whipped it at the nearest junk car. "Damn! I hadn't considered that."

I walked over to Bobby and punched him playfully in the arm. "But you know I wouldn't have it any other way."

Bobby sighed and nodded. "Yeah, I know. But that don't make it any easier to accept."

I shrugged. "You'll just have to. Besides you catch more fish with live bait."

Dean stopped working on the Impala, wiped the grease off his hands, and walked over to me. He clapped me on the back. "She's right, Bobby."

Bobby looked up. "Don't I know it."

Sam walked over too. "She's ready, Bobby."

Dean grinned over at me. "Let her fight."

Bobby closed his eyes as he considered it. After a few moments, he opened them. "Ok...but we are the backup. She doesn't get hurt."

Sam glanced at me out of the corner of his eye. "I don't even know if anything can hurt her. She seems so invincible."

Dean spread his hands out. "Release the kraken!"

Bobby and I looked at him like he had two heads while Sam just rolled his eyes. Dean just waved his hand at us before glancing over at Kieran, who was still standing where I had left him. He was staring at the ground with his eyes closed.

I walked over to him and gently touched his shoulder. "Kieran?"

His eyes flew open and he looked at me with tears in his eyes. "If you fight, you will die."
