The next morning, I woke up at noon and Rani's mom welcomed me with breakfast.

"I let you sleep. I'm sure you're exhausted from everything that's happened." Chelsea said.

"Thanks Chelsea, I am exhausted." I took a sip of my milk.

"I mean with a baby on the way and all." She added.

Milk shot out of my mouth and I began coughing.

"Jada, what happened? How could you let this man you barley know to impregnate you?" She questioned.

"Honestly, I don't even know how it happened. Mom, he dumped me yesterday. Do you want to know how I handled it?" I asked as a tear rolled down my face.

She gave me the 'go on, explain' look.

"I had sex with Kota yesterday. Mom what's wrong with me?" I full-blown began to bawl.

She wrapped me up in her arms like my real mom used to.

"I just don't know what I'm doing anymore Chels. I get upset with someone or something and somehow I think having sex with someone will magically take the pain away. It only makes the situation worse. What do I do?" I cried.

"First off, I'm gonna give that boy a talk. He's not allowed to steal you from Ryder. Broken up or not, that's his baby in there." She poked my stomach. "Second off, you talk to Ryder. Have you tried to talk to him after he broke up with you?"

I shook my head.

"Go call him. Then get ready. Andy called up, your first shift is at 2:00." Chelsea said.

I sauntered into Rani's room and called Ryder. Come one. Come on. Come on. Pick up.

"Hello?" He answered.

Yes!

"Ryder—" He cut me off.

"Who is this?" He asked.

I felt my heart shatter.

"This is your girlfriend, Jada." I sassily responded.

"Oh, my EX-girlfriend, Jada. What do you want?" He responded.

"I want to talk to you. You were the one who wouldn't let me break up with you on Thanksgiving. You poured your heart out and begged me. I love you Ryder. I'm not letting you take that away from me." I answered.

"I already told you, I love you too. I'm not denying that. I never would, but I am saying that I don't want to date you."

"Because I moved back to New York?" I snapped back.

"No. You're psychotic! You live in this made up perfect world." He said.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"You stayed in New York because you couldn't accept the fact that you didn't live there any more." He said. "You couldn't accept a new future." His voiced lowered and added a hint of sadness. "You couldn't accept me."

"Ryder, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I want you to be with me. I want you to be with this baby. You're our family. You're my family. I love you with all my heart. I want you to be mine." I answered.

"Really?" He insecurely asked.

"Yes."

"So you still want to be my girlfriend?" He questioned.

I nodded but then realized he couldn't see me. "With all my heart."

"I'm still not moving to New York. I can't leave the horses and my family. The part about seeing you in eight months is still true. I'll see you when the baby is born. I have to feed the animals. Talk to you later, Doll."

I hung up and stormed out of the room.

"He's not coming." I sniffled. "Mom he isn't coming until the baby is born. Now what?" I cried.

"You did all you could, Jada. Maybe he'll come around. Now go down to see Andy. He has your uniform." Chelsea stated.

"Thanks Mom." I said.

She smiled at me as I walked out. I rode the elevator to the lobby.

"Andy, Chelsea said you have my uniform." I explained.

"Here you go, Jada. See you in an hour." He replied handing me a security guard uniform.

I went up to my apartment to change, then I answered my ringing phone.

"Hey, Dad."

"Jada, I packed all of your stuff yesterday and today, but I work all week and I won't be able to come out until Saturday night." He informed me.

"Okay, thank you so much. I have to go to work. See you Saturday!" I replied.

I hung up the phone and pulled my hair into a ponytail.

This outfit is ridiculous. I look like a Halloween stripper. If Andy wants me to look like a sexy stripper then I'll show him one. The outfit he gave me consisted of a black security crop top and a black mini skirt with thigh-high black heeled boots. I strutted down down the lobby and up to the front desk.

"Seriously, Andy? Is this a joke?" I gestured at my outfit.

I glanced and noticed some of the other people behind the desk and in the lobby were staring.

"Josh." I snapped my fingers at him.

Josh works part-time as a concierge. He lives on floor 23 just two floors below me.

"Huh?" He immediately stopped staring at my boobs. "Sorry, Jada. You just look sexy. Like really sexy."

I looked at Andy enjoying my anger.

"He's right, Jada. If I wasn't gay, you'd be in some serious trouble." Andy added.

Josh interrupted, "Does that mean I can—"

I cut him off, "No, Josh. You can't. I have a boyfriend back in Texas. Can I just have my real uniform?" I asked Andy.

"Fine. Here." He replied handing me another uniform.

I changed at my apartment then I came down to work. I learned all of the ropes and it wasn't going to be that bad. All I really had to do was watch the cameras and press the big red button if I saw anything suspicious.

8 hours later, I never wanted to look at an electronic again. I said goodnight to the night staff whose names I am less familiar with and I went up to Josh's floor. I knocked on his door.

"Jada. Have you come to reconsider—"

I cut him off again,"No. I've come to tell you that you can't talk to people that way. Yeah I get it. You think you're cool. Regardless of how popular you think you are, you can't treat women like we're your own personal toys. Goodnight."

I began to walk away.

"Listen, I'm sorry. I just don't know how to act around you. I've had a crush on you since you were 11, but you always had a thing for Kota and I get that. I wouldn't mess with another man's girl." He admitted.

"Aw, you like me? I'm the one who should be sorry." I responded.

We said goodnight and I took the elevator up to Rani's to go shower and sleep.
