In case you haven't noticed, our parents trust us being together. I don't know why, but they do. All I know is that in New York, there was no way on planet earth that I could have a boy in my room. I used to sneak them in anyway, but I would have been in serious trouble if my dad ever found out.
We climbed up in his truck and he still hasn't fixed that seatbelt. When I scooted over, he put his arm around me. He does not listen. I'm not over Kota. I grabbed his hand and pulled his arm off of me.
"What did I tell you? Literally, it was this morning."
"I don't remember. I have a concussion." He replied in a mockingly fake way.
Yeah, right you don't remember. *Cough cough* Bullshit *cough cough.* Oh, by the way, I found out Ryder took the long way to school and back. It was our town down the road. When I asked him about it, he said he wanted to spend more time with me. He turned an 8-mile drive into a 23-mile drive.
I texted Kota: Kota I miss you. Well I mean I miss us. He replied with: I miss us too, but we are 1500 miles apart. There's nothing we can do.
I didn't reply. Ryder noticed I was texting and he stopped talking.
When we arrived at Texas Roadhouse, I ordered dessert first, because it was something Rani and Kota have been doing for as long as I can remember. Ryder thought I was a complete weirdo. When I reached my main course, Ryder was ordering dessert.
The dinner conversation wasn't awkward and quiet like I thought it would be. It was comforting to know we can talk about everything under the sun. He just stared at me and smiled.
"What?" I asked after I finished chewing.
"You're just so damn beautiful."
I couldn't help but blush.
"If you'd let me," he began, "I'd like to take you on another date." He boldly announced.
I nearly choked on my food. This is NOT a date.
"Um... Ryder this isn't a date. I told you I'm not ready to date right now."
He sighed, "When are you going to realize that it's not a choice. You'll fall in love with me eventually."
I rolled my eyes at him and signaled the waiter for the bill. I paid before Ryder could and I walked out the door. Once I was out of sight, I ran. I ran towards the school and I hid behind the gas station. I had to escape him. I watched from afar as he looked around for me.
I texted him: I'm walking home. Bye. He replied: I'm not letting you do that. Come back here. I didn't answer.
I began walking home staying out of sight as much as possible. Then I heard his truck leave. Wait. He's not leaving. I think he found me. Shit. He rolled down the window.
"Jada, let's go home."
I slowly emerged from my hiding spot.
"Fine. But only because I don't want to walk 6 miles."
He actually parked the car to open my door for me. I crossed my arms and looked out my window. I'm so mad at him. He thinks I'm his property or something. He thinks he owns me.
When we arrived at home I didn't even let him open my door. I opened it and jumped out. Woah that's further than I thought. I fell. I'd never actually gotten out of the truck myself. Ryder always picks me up and gently places me on the ground. Curse my clumsiness. I picked myself back up and walked towards my back door.
"Jada wait." He requested.
I stopped but didn't turn around.
"What?"
He came around to face me. I stared at the ground.
"Look at me." He demanded as he raised my face to meet his. "I'm sorry. I ain't trying to upset you, Doll. You do have a choice to be with me or not, but you can't avoid it. You will fall in love with me."
"I ain't your doll!" I mocked him and his vocabulary. "I will not fall in love with you." I retaliated.
I pushed him out of the way and walked towards my house.
"Oof-"
I froze. Oh my god. I didn't just hurt him did I? I spun around and he was holding his head.
"Ryder!" I moved closer to him.
"Gotcha. I had to make sure you still cared about me."
"Why would you do that to me?" I responded.
I ran inside on the verge of tears. I'm upset because if I didn't leave my phone at the treehouse, Ryder wouldn't have gotten a concussion and I wouldn't be so worried about him being injured every second of the day.
It was around 9:00 by the time I calmed down and I showered, then went to sleep. I had trouble sleeping. I was up worrying about Ryder.
When I woke up, it was noon on Sunday. I literally never sleep that late. I checked my phone: 8 missed calls, 24 text messages, 3 voicemails. All of them were from Ryder, except for a few texts from a group message with Kota and Rani.
I texted Ryder: I just woke up what do you want? He replied: My sister was leaving for school. I wanted to know if you'd come to the airport with my family, but she left an hour ago. I texted back: Come over when you can.
Almost instantly, Ryder was in my room.
"Oh. I didn't realize you were back from the airport already." I said sitting up in my bed with my hair probably sticking up in every direction.
"Yeah, we just got back."
He removed his boots and his hat and he came over and sat with me.
"You slept for quite a while. I thought you said you can never sleep in late." He noted.
"I'm sorry. I'm just worn out."
I began crying out of stress I assumed.
"Hey don't cry." He whispered scooting closer to me.
He wiped my tears with his thumbs. Then, he caressed my face. I couldn't resist him. I forced myself upon him. I leaned forward and kissed him. I kissed him with all the passion in my body. At first, he accepted it and kissed me back. Then he pushed me away.
"It's okay. I want to. Kiss me." I demanded.
"You're just trying to relieve stress. I'm not going to let you do this."
He held me back and I struggled.
"Then I'll just go find someone else," I stated boldly, not knowing what was going through my mind.
"Jada no!" He yelled as I stood up and grabbed my shoes.
"What are you going to do about it?" I asked tauntingly. "I can have sex with whoever I want whenever I want."
"What has gotten into you? I mean I don't know you that well yet, but I know this isn't you." He said with concern.
I stood by my bedroom door like a cat ready to pounce. I was trying to figure out the best way to run down the steps. He stood across from me, tensed up, trying to draw me away from the door. Unexpectedly, I slammed the door and rode the railing quickly down the steps. I pulled each shoe on and jumped off the porch. I full on sprinted and Ryder hopped in his truck to catch me.
Ha. I was in track. I can run. I ran quickly and I cut a hard turn into the woods on Ryder's property. I ran until I was sure I lost him. I stopped running and took a deep breath. These woods extend for about 30 acres. I bet I can hide out in here for a while. I climbed up a tree and hung out there. Once it grew dark, I noticed light coming from Ryder's field. Wait, is that Ryder? He has a flashlight. Aw and his dad is there too. They're out looking for me.
