Saving Caroline

Chapter 9

"Pads! I need pads!" Riley shouts from downstairs.

I listen as her feet scurry up the stairs, and down the wide hallway to my bedroom door. She swings open the door, and it crashes against the wall behind it. Danny practically jumped out of bed.

"What the fuck is wrong?" I question.

"Um, why don't you ask my uterus?" She laughs hysterically.

"Riley's uterus, what is wrong?" I laugh.

"Payton...I need a fucking pad," Riley groans.

Danny has the look of what the hell. I cant tell if he is grossed out of trying not to laugh.

"To the bathroom," I point into the air. Danny's hand slips from my waist as I get out of bed.

"What is all the commotion about?" Caroline asks.

"Jase didn't give Riley's uterus a baby, so she's upset," I explain.

Caroline laughs. I show Riley my cotton stash, and she slams the  bathroom door behind. She does her thing.

"I cant sleep now." I say.

Caroline and Riley agree.

"What do you wanna do?" Caroline asks.

"I would like to go to Walmart get a chocolate cake, and eat it." Riley suggest.

"Caroline?" I ask.

"What?" she asks.

"Do you wanna go get a Walmart chocolate cake?" I ask.

"Yes!" she exclaimed.

I look at our pajamas. "We look fabulous!" I laugh.

"I'm not changing," Caroline smiles.

"Me either." Riley says.

"Danny!" I shout.

Danny comes running in his boxers.

"We are going to Walmart to get cake. Wanna come?" I ask.

"You scared the shit out of me!" he grunts.

"will you come with us?" I ask.

"I guess. I'll sit in the car." He smiles.

We pull into the Walmart parking lot at three in the morning.

I send Riley and Caroline in to get three chocolate cakes. Danny and I wait in the car. We are sitting up front. A decent looking girl walks in front of the car, and stops to check Danny out. I lean over and kiss Danny. She rolls her eyes, and walks away. Danny rolls down his window. The warm California night air slips into the car.

 A blonde girl with fake looking everything walks up the Danny's open window.

"Hey honey." Danny gives her a  fake smile.

She doesn't seem to see me. She slips her hand in through the window and feels Danny's bare muscular chest.

"Hey, bitch." I shout.

"Who the hell are you?" She snaps.

"Payton, Honey's girlfriend."

I give her a sarcastic smile. She looks me over.

"Well honey, you can do so much better." She laughs.

"Okay. That's it!" I shout opening the car door.

I see Riley and Caroline a few cars back. Danny is between hitting the woman, or letting me hit her. Riley and Caroline put the cakes in the trunk, and look up to see me out of the car.
