When Alex finally reached Rian's house, Rian showed the boy where his order was placed for the tickets and Alex was jumping out of his skin. 'This is like amazing bro!'
'I know right,' Rian agreed laughing at his ecstatic best friend. 'So what are our plans?'
'Uh I guess after school on Friday I could come back over here and stay until Sunday maybe,' Alex suggested and Rian gave an approving nod.
'Sounds great to me. Are you hungry?'
'Starving. Let's get some tacos,' Alex replied and they started their journey to the nearest Taco Bell.
All the rest of the days have turned uneventful for Alex until Thanksgiving came. With the concert and all on the 2nd, it made the days seem to go by slower. Just anticipation killed him. Although, thinking about Jack and talking to him made the days even out.
God, he really couldn't get over this boy.
He seemed like a great friend; well he is a great friend. The teenagers have a lot in common and goddamit Alex brain was stuck on him. Even when Jack still called him babe or any nickname given to him, it'll make Alex smile around the world and back.
It almost made him feel comfortable talking to a stranger than someone in person. They weren't there to judge him on his little habits or his imperfections that made him Alex.
Going back to Thanksgiving, Alex and his family decided to have a little get together of their own. It wouldn't be anything big like a family reunion but just the closer ones they talk to almost every day.
Alex was lying down on his back in bed with his laptop on his chest when there was a knock on his door. 'Yes?'
The door creaked open and there stood his father slightly smiling at the boy. 'Hey there Alex. Uh, do you mind running and doing me a favor?'
Alex then sat up in his bed, pushing his laptop to the side. 'Like what Pops?'
'Well I'm baking a cake-'
'Wait,' the boy erupted into a laughing fit, gasping for air. 'You? Baking a cake? Dad in the seventeen almost eighteen years of me knowing you and you being my father, you have never and I mean ever baked an ounce of air.'
His dad let a laugh escape his lips. 'Well okay your mom is baking a cake and making desserts. She asked me to go get some whipped cream for the strawberries.'
'So you came upstairs to tell your son to do it for you because you are lazy and all you want to do it sleep.'
'You know me all too well son,' he cracked a smiled before leaving the threshold of Alex's bedroom door. Alex shut down his laptop and got out of bed. He put on his shoes and jacket deciding he was a bit lazy himself and drove the little ways to the store.
When Alex entered the store, it was all too familiar to him. He had been going to this grocery store for God knows how long enough to know where everything is at. So he proceeded to robotically walk to where the whipped cream was near the frozen foods section.
Alex picked up the items and walked the corner into an aisle only to get bumped down. Whoever he bumped went down a long with him. ‘Oh my god! I’m so sorry. Are you okay?’ The boy Alex bumped into asked from the ground.
Alex looks up and he could practically feel his cheeks turn pink looking at the attractive teen looking boy. 'Yeah I'm okay,' he managed to mumble out.
The boy stands up offering a hand to Alex who takes the helping hand and gets up. ‘Thanks,’ he mumbles again. The person bends down and picks up the can of whipped cream for him and handing it Alex.
‘You dropped this,’ he kind of jokes with the boy, Alex sees as trying to lighten the mood. He smiles because the boy was sweet and kind to Alex. He liked that.
‘Thanks,’ Alex says taking it from him. He starts to walk away when he heard the boy call out to him again. He turned around. 'Yeah?'
‘Um, where did you find the whipped cream?’
Alex laughs a little and says, ‘Turn around.’
He does as Alex says and laughs at himself. Alex blushed to himself because even the boy's laugh was attractive. ‘Oh, thanks,’ he looks at Alex who managed to make his blush go away at the slightest and smiles. Alex smiles back at the boy and walks away.
At home, Alex gives his mom the purchased items and goes up to his room before she questions his happy mood. As his laptop is starting up, he thinks about the boy at the store and silently regrets not getting to know him. He was kind and reminds him if Jack.
Great, Alex thinks. Now I have two people I can't get off my mind.
Alex logs into his twitter and looks through his home. He finds one of Jack's recent tweets and it reads:
Jagklikes2thrust: Saw a cute guy at the store today. Should have asked for his number /:
The teenager sits there and thinks about it. Maybe that was Jack that he saw. But then again Jack lives in Baltimore. What would he be doing shopping in his city that's nearly an half an hour away? He's pretty sure there are stores in Baltimore.
Also, flaw number two to his theory, Jack said he saw a cute boy at the store. Alex thinks he's shy and awkward with everything he says and does with people he hardly knows. Especially with people he just met.
Who would think he's cute? Alex wouldn't think anyone would.
After a long stressful week back to school, Alex found himself at Rian's house on Friday. The concert was tomorrow and the teenagers were absolutely pumped. With seeing your favorite band on a Saturday night, Alex couldn't think of any other ways of how tomorrow could get better.
