The Separation

You sipped on some tea Ashi made you. (Was it tea? Do you like tea?)  It warmed up your hands. Speaking of your hands, they dreaded the thought of going back.

Well, you certainly weren't excited about going back. Running your hands through the muck wasn't exactly an enticing thing to do. (Unless you like doing that?) Well, maybe you were a bit excited. You anticipated answers. Ashi cracked his back, mumbling something about "using the bathroom". He cleared his throat. "You two." You and Hiro both looked up at Ashi.

"Once I get back here, you both must be ready to go." He said. You nodded while Hiro looked to the side, putting his hands in his pockets. Ashi gave you two one final glance before exiting the room. You stood there, lost in your thoughts about the burning. You thoughtfully twirled the pendant of your necklace. Hiro smiled at this action, before frowning. A silent thirty seconds passed, before Hiro began to spoke. "(Y/N)?" He said. You turned toward him, cocking your head inquisitively.

"Aghh, how do I say this..." He fumbled with his words. "I was on Ashi's phone," he began, before you glared at him. "It isn't right to snoop, you know." You accused. "I'm sorry! He keeps giving me the creeps! And he'll give you the creeps once I finish my story," he defended. You pressed your lips tight, interested. You made a "continue" motion with your hand. Hiro nodded. "So, I saw... Um, pictures of you," he said, awkwardly scratching the back of his head. You furrowed your eyebrows, as Hiro continued. "One of them was you sleeping..." You felt bile rise up in your throat. That's... You didn't know what to feel. There were so many things to feel. (Hint: All those feelings are negative.)

"Is there more?" You asked. He nodded, to your satisfaction and disgust.  His eyes nervously flickered from you to the door as he continued. "And, um, there was this very strange language on it. It's the same language from the paper we found." He finished. Your jaw slightly dropped in awe, brain gears cranking and turning. You slowly connected the two together into a theory. "What if Ashi set this up?" You said. Hiro flinched at the thought. What could he possibly be planning if that was true?

Hiro didn't want to think about it. But he had to, because he wanted to keep you safe. Unfortunately, he couldn't, because Ashi barged through the door. "Alright, let's go!" He enthusiastically announced. You and Hiro shared a nervous look, before walking out with Ashi.

It was a silent and awkward trip, with Ashi trying to strike conversation with you. You kept ending them with a distant "uh-huh", or "yeah". Hiro, meanwhile, was planning ways to counter any situation possible where Ashi put you into danger. Finally, you all were at the destination. If this was really was staged, you could put no real effort in, and find another "clue". The thought of it all made you sick.

...A few minutes (or 30 minutes? you didn't care.) passed, and it was true. Another piece of paper. Ashi found it. He found the paper last time. You looked past the grime on it; the paper looked relatively new. C'mon, Ashi! Step up your japing game! And you saw... "The inscriptions, again..." You said outloud. Hiro had walked up and looked you in the eyes. You both had a similar thought, and both spoke up. "Ashi." The two of you said in unison. You both quickly looked to eachother, grinning. Hiro gestured to you. You nodded and began to talk. Ashi had a curious spark in his eye. "Why are there pictures of me on your phone?" You asked. Ashi's face quickly contorted into... Fear? Anger?

He glared at Hiro violently. Was Hiro on his phone!? He should have thought better than to let his filthy... Smart hands get on it! Hiro smirked and shrugged, before his face molded into a stony expression. "Yeah, Ashi. That's sort of creepy." Ashi trembled in place, lips tightly pursed together. "Umm, if you won't reply, maybe we'd have to take this into more serious matters...?" You said, uncertain. Hiro cleared his throat. "Like... The police?"

Ashi's left eye twitched up. In an instant, he grabbed you. Your body instantly went limp instead of protesting. As if you... Passed out? What had just happened. Hiro raised an eyebrow, mouth opening to say something, until Ashi began clumsily galloping away, with you in his arms. Hiro jumped in shock, face morphing from a surprised expression to a scowl, as he sprinted after Ashi. It wasn't that hard to catch up with him, but Ashi had something up his sleeve.

Almost literally. He took off your shoe and threw it at Hiro's face- bullseye! Or... Hiro's eye! It hit him in the eye. Yeah. He screamed in pain, but a shoe isn't going to stop him! He continued on, sprinting at Ashi. They both entered a pine forest, littered with trees. Hiro swiftly dodged left and right, making his way back to Ashi.

Ashi clumsily bumped into the trees, slowing down. Ashi panted, bending over at a tree. Hiro ravenously smiled, and lunged for Ashi, bringing him in for a painful tackle. Ashi however ducked out of the way, and... Smack! Hiro bashed into the tree! Ashi chuckled and grabbed your limp body as he ran out of the scene.

Hiro groaned, lying there. He tried to get up, but to no avail. His body just wasn't up to it. Wait, he should've just called 911. Well, he could still try that! He made a feeble attempt at picking up his phone... But his vision went black. Arm went limp. Tears welled up in his eyes. Not because of the ravenous pain, though.

But because he failed you. You were now gone with Ashi.

     He's so scared.
