Patrick's Point of View
Shareen, Valery and I finished eating and we decided we'd see the next showing of Mockingjay Part 2 since Shareen was so excited to see it. She was practically jumping up and down like a crazy person as we walked, her face glowing with excitement. It hadn't been long since the whole Chuck mess happened, but it seemed like forever since I saw her so happy, actually excited for something.
Even for something like this, a simple movie. Shareen was a fan of a lot of things and I missed more than anything just hearing her talk about all of them.
"Valery only watched the first three movies because of Liam Hemsworth." Shareen said, shaking her head at her best friend, interrupting my thoughts.
"Oh come on," Valery complained, rolling her eyes. "the movies are good but only because he's the hottest guy there."
Shareen continued shaking her head at Valery and I laughed at them.
"I can't believe that my best friend doesn't truly appreciate the honest to God masterpiece that is The Hunger Games trilogy." Shareen grumbled.
She placed a hand on my arm and looked at me with pleading eyes.
"Please tell me you've read the books and appreciate them for what they are, Trick." Shareen pled.
A grin immediately made it's way on my lips. She called me Trick again!
"I can't really say I've read the books." I admitted nervously.
Shareen looked like she was about to jump at me, her eyes narrowed and she stopped jumping. I held in a laugh but hurried to correct myself.
"But, I have watched all the movies at Pete's house!" I said in a rush.
Shareen laughed and wrapped her arms around my waist in a hug.
"You better have." She giggled. "I can't stand the thought of dating someone who doesn't like The Hunger Games or the Mara Dyer trilogy or Harry Potter or Divergent or the Twilight Saga or any of John Green's books or Doctor Who or Supernatural or-"
"We get it!" Valery groaned. "Gosh, you're always bringing up that nerd junk."
I could hear Shareen muttering to herself but I couldn't understand the words. I did my best to laugh, but on the inside I was actually making a mental note of all the books and movies she said. I was pretty sure that Chuck liked all of those things and as I always said, if you want to live up to the competition, you have to find out what makes them tick.
Naturally, the second we entered the movie theater Shareen was already jumping around, screaming and almost literally crying. Watching the movie with her was pretty much the same thing. You'd think it'd get annoying or whatever, but I spent the whole time laughing and enjoying myself. Despite the fact that a whole bunch of people around us looked at us angrily and the movie was actually kind of depressing, I really enjoyed myself just being with Shareen and even Valery.
The movie was over, Shareen was done crying and everything was back to normal. As we walked out of the theater, I tried to hold Shareen's hand. She pulled away from me slightly and hooked her arm through Valery's without looking at me. I sighed to myself, wondering when it would be that Shareen and I could actually get past this awkward stage we were in.
"I'm going to the bathroom," Shareen said, pulling away from Valery. "I'll be right back."
She headed towards the bathroom at the back of the cinema, leaving me alone with Valery for the first time. I was a bit nervous at first, mostly because she had really strong character and I supposed that intimated me. I liked her, a lot. Maybe she was just scary.
