Patrick's POV
I began to tell Pete everything that happened last night, how Shareen wanted to fix things with Chuck and how later, I convinced her to stay with me. At least that was what I thought. Pete just nodded while I spoke, pursing his lips but saying nothing. Once I finished, I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. It was messy and tangled, and I wished I had a fedora or any hat with me.
"Well, I'd like to say I know what's going to happen next." Pete sighed. "But to be honest, I have no idea."
I groaned. "I really want this to work out between us, but when I asked her what we were she just kept kissing me. I really like kissing her, I'd just rather do it knowing where we're headed."
"I get that, man." Pete said. "You're just going to have to sit down and force her to talk to you about it. She's worth it, you know. She's worth all the trouble that you're going to get into, I can tell. But sometimes there's a limit and I think you've already hit it hard enough once to hit it again."
I sighed. "How do I talk to her?" I asked.
"Just take her out or something." Pete shrugged. "Go out for lunch or whatever. Once you're settled, just ask her."
"What if she doesn't want to?"
"Then you're stuck." He said. "She probably won't want to talk about it right now . . . I mean she just got out of a relationship. But if she kissed you, it's because she at least considered it. That's what I think at least."
"Who would have thought that you'd know girls' brains so well?" I asked, chuckling.
Pete shrugged. "It's a talent."
We kept on talking for a bit, joking around about things like always. It's actually been a while since it was just me and Pete, since I was so caught up on getting Shareen to like me and then with the song. It felt good to just talk, the two of us. It reminded me what an amazing best friend I had.
There was a loud knock on the door. Actually, someone was banging so loud on the door I thought it was going to fall down.
"What the frick is that?" Pete asked, getting up from the couch and making his way to the door.
"Patrick Martin Stumph, open the door and come talk to me!" A familiar voice yelled.
"Oh no." I muttered.
"Is that Shareen?" Pete asked, turning around to look at me.
I nodded. "I told her I would be right back, I didn't mean to be gone all day."
"I'm not getting that door." Pete said, point his thumb at it. "You get it."
"I'm not going to get it!" I exclaimed. "What if she kills me?"
"Peter open the door!" Shareen yelled. "Stop protecting him!"
Pete rolled his eyes.
"What's all the racket?"
Meagan, Pete's longtime girlfriend was walking down the stairs, rubbing her eyes. She must have been sleeping until Shareen came around.
"Patrick's girlfriend wants to knock down the door." Pete said.
"And why don't you just opened it?" She asked.
