I decide to just drive with Rosa again because it makes no sense to drive two cars to the same location. There's just the low hum of the radio cutting through the silence as I stare out the window, as usual, until we pull up into her driveway and get out the car, me getting my bag from the back.
"Did you tell your mom about me?" I ask, feeling nervous.
"No. But It's fine. You know my mom is cool." She reassures me.
"I know she is but I just feel like she's going to be so disappointed whenever she finds out."
Not many people know my predicament and I'd like to keep it that way until the time comes when I begin to fully show or feel like telling them. Like I said before, I don't care if people look down on me because they don't know what I've been through and why I'm happy to have this baby. No one knows with the exception of myself and Romeo. See, what I told William about me not being able to get pregnant was a lie. I know that's horrible, but I'm tired of being a pity party so I thought it easier to just say that because a car crash is an accident. The real reason I couldn't have a baby was because of that day Romeo abused me. And according to the doctor, I was supposedly infertile, but I guess that wasn't true.
"Kennise, are you gonna come on or what?" Rosa asks, already in the house holding the door open. I have got to snap out of it.
"Yeah..sorry." I say. I quickly walk into the house and as soon as I do, Rosa's mom, aka my second mom, hugs me super tight.
"Hey baby! I missed you!" She screeches.
"You treat her better than you treat me!" Rosa complains and I laugh.
"You know you my baby too. But I heard you were in the hospital what happened?" She asked me, fixing my messy hair.
"I had a panic attack. But I'm fine now." I smile it off and I begin to smell something sweet coming from the direction of the kitchen.
"What you cooking, Ma?" I ask, making my way to the kitchen before she even answers me.
"Just baking some cookies, brownies, and cupcakes. Want some?" She asks, her and Rosa coming in after me. I turn around and nod with a huge smile on my face. Rosa's mom, A.K.A. Ma, is the best baker ever! I can never turn down her food.
"Just take whatever you want." She says and I do just that as Rosa walks over to do the same. "I'll be in my room if you girls need me."
"Okay." We say at the same time.
We both sit down at the table with a plate full of the goods her mom baked and begin to chow down, talking about random things as usual.
"We should really get started on this homework." I frown and slightly roll my eyes. Rosa just had to remind me of that stupid homework. I'm just glad junior year is almost over. It's the hardest year of high school and I'm just itching for it to end.
I nod at Rosa and tell her we should work on it so we go upstairs and do just that. By the time we finished, it was 1:46 a.m. and I swear I was about to pass out. I didn't eat anything since dinner and I got no sleep at all today, with the exception of passing out, so while Rosa was showering, I ran downstairs into the kitchen for food before I freaking passed out. I ate a banana and of course drank some water. When I finished, I went back upstairs just as Rosa got out of the bathroom.
"Where'd you go?" She asks, grabbing her pajamas and putting them on.
"To get something to eat. I was starving."
"But we had dinner!"
"I know. That's why I only ate a banana." I say, getting what I need from my duffel bag then heading to the bathroom to do a quick hygiene routine.
