Willie's POV:

I looked at Kenz as her expression changed from having fun and excitement to complete anger and rage.

She was staring at the door of the restaurant so I followed her gaze and saw this male who had nice, jet black, curly hair and stood pretty tall. He was buff and had a fair skin tone.

I looked at the girl next to him and she was pretty, but not even near as pretty as Kenz and she looked younger than Kenz. I turned back to look at Kenz and held her hand.

"Kenz. Are you alright?"

"Oh..yeah." She put on a fake smile and looked back at me, snapping out of her gaze.

"Who is he Kenz." I had to ask. I'm so nosy sometimes and of all times, I choose now. I should've never asked because I could tell this question brought up some deep shit.

Kenz's POV:

"Who is he Kenz." William asked.

My eyes teared up and I clenched my free hand into a fist. I looked at William and I could see he regretted asking the question.

Why am I getting so emotional over Romeo? It's not his fault I was so stupid to be with him. I was the dumb one because I let him hurt me more than once.

"I'm sorry." He said in a hushed tone. I nodded my head, not wanting to speak right now.

Every time I think that I am starting to get over Romeo, he always shows up and proves my dumb ass wrong.

"Can we lea--" was all I got out before I got paralyzed by fear as he walked over, leaving the girl he was with.

"Hey Kennise. How's it been. You missing me yet?" He ridiculed, laughing.

"And whose he? Your new man? Hey dude, don't waste your time on her, she's a great fuck and all, but she talks back too damn much." He spat out.

I never remember him being so harsh. In the beginning of our relationship, he was a sweetheart. Sure, he'd force me into sex a few times, but he was never this rude.

I looked down at the bracelet he gave me and remembered the other one I found. I don't know how, but I got the courage to speak.

"...to the main woman in my life. R&S..." I whispered. Everyone looked at me as if I was crazy. I repeated myself but louder this time.

"Romeo, baby, how does she know what's written on my bracelet?" Asked the girl, walking over and standing next to him.

"Because....I was with him... and I found the bracelet.....

YOU DIRTY ASSED PIG! YOU USED ME AND ABUSED ME, AND MADE ME FEEL LIKE NOTHING BUT A PUNCHING BAG WHILE YOU WERE CHEATING ON ME THE WHOLE TIME?!" I yelled at him, getting angrier by the second and standing face to face with him, causing a scene. "Why did you do this to me? I thought you loved me. I hope you fucking rot in hell. And sweetie, he's cheating on you. You should probably get yourself checked out." I said, tears dripping from my face. I ripped off the charm he bought me and threw it at his face. Everyone was looking on in shock.

I motioned to William that I was ready to go and he nodded and got up.

"Oh, and by the way , thanks to your damage, she's unable to give good guys like me a try. She's more than just a 'great fuck'. She's a bright and beautiful young lady who deserves a hell of a lot better than a sleaze bag like you." William defended me. He didn't know everything about me yet, but he cared enough to defend me. It finally clicked that he's the one I should really be chasing. And it made me smile to myself, although the tears were still flowing.

He took my hand and we left the restaurant.

"So...that was your asswhole of an ex, huh?" William asked, breaking the silence after I cooled down and got all the tears out. God, I hated Romeo for doing this to me. I wish I'd never met him.

"Yeah...I just hope you don't hate me too after all of this." I asked, unsure.

"Kenz, of course I don't. But this was one hell of a first date!" He said, laughing and making me laugh. "I'll never forget it though."

"Yeah, well me either." I told him truthfully.

"Hey, Kenz, you know that homecoming dance?"

"Yeah..."

"Well, a lot of girls have been asking me to go but I put them on hold because I was wondering if you'd go with me?" He asked, gripping the steering wheel tighter out of nervousness.

"Of course I will. Just that I am broke right now, so I can't afford the buy anything."

"Oh that's nothing. I've got everything covered. Don't worry about it, It'll be fine." He reassured me.

"Okay. Well thanks William. But instead of taking me to your house, can we stop by work? My car is still there."

"Oh yeah. Okay."

We stopped by work and got my car, then we went to his house so I can gather my stuff.

"Well, this surely was an adventure." William said, putting his hands in his pockets as we stood by my car.

"Yeah...it really was. But thank you...for sticking up for me, for buying me this dress and this jewelry, and, well....for everything."

"You're welcome, your welcome, your welcome, and, well...your welcome." He smirked.

I hugged him and he wrapped his arms around me.

"It's pretty late. You should probably head home." He hugged me tight and then let go.

"Yeah. I'll see you later. Oh, and do you think... maybe... you could come by my house to be my company for the family gathering tomorrow?" I asked, shyly, looking down.

"Of course, I'd love to."

We said our goodbyes and I headed home.
