"Aunty?" I called out as I searched for my aunt.

"Yes Kenz, I'm in here."

I followed her voice and went to the kitchen, where I found her fixing my dinner.

"Hey Aunty." I said, kissing her cheek.

"Hey sweetie. How was your day?"

"Fine. Why'd you call me to come home?" I asked, not wanting to beat around the bush.

"Well, sweetie," she started, setting the plate on the table for me, "I'm a little low on cash and I'm already working double shift and since your sister lived in Jamaica, she's still trying to get adjusted. So, since you know your way around, I need you to get a job to help out."

"A- a job?! Oh no Aunty. This isn't gonna work. I don't do manual labor! And I have money in my acco-"

"No you don't have money in your account. Your mother took it all out. She said she wanted you to learn a lesson about being responsible, and I agree. So tomorrow morning, I want you to go and look for a job. No ifs, ands, or buts. Love you." She said, kissing my cheeks and walking out the kitchen.

I ate my jerk chicken with rice and vegetables and put my plate in the sink. I headed straight for the liquor cabinet. And took out the Alize.

"Ahem..." I jumped and turned around to see my sister, Rissa standing there. I was frozen by fear that she might tell my aunt and then my aunt would kick me out. Jamaicans don't play with their liquor man.

"Your not going to finish that without giving me some right?" She smiled deviously and I let out a breath that I'd been holding in.

"Girl you scared the mess out of me. But of course not."

We poured ourselves a little of the drink and then mixed it with a little bit of the other liquor so that my Aunty wouldn't notice that we drank some. We gulped down the rest of our drinks and went upstairs. I turned on some music and we started dancing. What a perfect way to end a horrible night.
