Vacation is over and we’re back at school now. However thanks to the principal we are forced to come to school today even though we came back yesterday at one am. I HATE OUT PRINCIPAL! If any of the band kids are absent today then no more trips anymore. I have to wake up at six and come to school at seven even though it opens at eight because Robbie, who is my only ride, has to come to practise here at that time. It gets boring waiting there for an hour alone, but usually Sam and Nathaly were with me, but they haven’t arrived yet. Suddenly I saw a familiar black truck pull up to the side of the school and park. I ran as fast as I could all the way to the truck. A familiar mess of black hair got out of the truck holding a coffee cup that I just assumed was mine, took it, and happily sipped it.
“That was my coffee,” he said sleepily. I needed coffee to wake up better and Sammy was the only one who had coffee.
“Too bad, it’s got my girl cooties on it now,” I said giggling and running away.
“Good thing I got two then,” he said pulling out another one from his truck. We walked toward the school until a ball of energy attacked me. I spilled my coffee on my shirt and cried out.
“What the hell!!!!” I turned to Nathaly and glared at her. She sheepishly smiled at me. I sighed and laughed.
“How could you have so much energy after only having probably 5 hours of sleep?” I asked her stupefied over her energy.
“I don’t know…. Cause ice cream doesn’t have bones,” she said laughing. At eight, we are only allowed in the school if we had tutoring or if we are in any clubs which, good thing band is. Once outside the band room, waiting for the drum majors with the extra keys, I suddenly realized I didn’t have coffee anymore. I glanced over at Sam; he still had his, and smirked.
“Sammy, I have a proposition for you,” I said smiling. He glanced at me worriedly and then nodded for me to continue.
“I know how much you need my help for your plan that involves Sky. So I am willing to help you but you have to give me your coffee,” I said giving him a big smile, he sighed and handed me the coffee which was still full. Yes, mission accomplished.
“You look funny,” Nathaly said laughing and pointing at my shirt. Only then did I glance down and noticed the giant coffee stain on it.
“Yea because you decided to attack me and make me spill my coffee on my shirt, but one of the many perks of band is being able to store extra clothes in your band locker,” I said sighing once I saw one of the drum majors come in and open the door for us. I rushed over to my band locker and grabbed my extra shirt. It might be an old t-shirt but it beats wearing this shirt all day long. After quickly changing I sat on the floor, happily sipping on my coffee.
“Yo crazies, move over,” Evan said pushing Nathaly and practically sitting on top of her. Yep, he has a weird way of expressing his feelings to us. I lay down on my dirty shirt, just staring up at the ceiling. A warm feeling came over me when I felt someone touch my ear. Shuddering slightly I looked to my left and saw him. Sam was lying down too but he was facing me, listing to music. I felt my face go warmer at his intense stare but thought nothing of it. He scooted closer to me and I felt myself welcoming his warmth, going closer to it and putting my head on his chest. I heard a cough and saw Sky there pissed. Sam got up to go toward her and I was left alone, with Sky smirking as she was showered with affection from him. Frustrated. I wanted to cry, yell, grab Sam and tell Sky to go be a fucking slut somewhere else because she had her chance and she blew it, but I guess that’s just not the right thing to do. I sat up and started to finish my coffee, when I saw Jason and Thomas come in.
“Jason! Come here I need my white boy here,’” I yelled at them. They took one look at me, guessing they saw the sadness and anger in my eyes and came. They both sat down on either side of me and just tried to comfort me. They might not know what was going on with me right now, but I really appreciate what they were willing to do to help me. We all sat there without talking. I glanced over at Nathaly, glad that she was too busy talking to Evan, not noticing anything that anything just happened. Thomas, Jason, and I just sat there quiet looking over at sky and Sam, every now and then Jason and Thomas would glance over at me. I grumpily sipped my coffee pissed off at how Sky was manipulating all those different guys. I knew that Sam would never return my feelings for him as long as Sky was there with her all mighty glory. But at the same time, I never expected him to dump me for that slut. No, she’s not a slut, she’s my friend.
“How did you guys even become friends? You’re nothing alike?” Thomas asked looking at Sky slowly being crowded by her male harem.
“Well, when I first came here last year from all the way across the country I was shy and wouldn’t talk at all… I know it’s hard to imagine that but it’s true. Sky was the first genuine person I met who talked to me and we became friends. Back then I was just happy that someone wanted to talk to me, I ignored the fact that she was like….that” I said the last part pointing at her practically throwing herself at some poor freshman who was definitely enjoying every second of it.
“She was faking the whole thing. She tried to pretend to like the same things I did and I just found out it was all a lie, because now I can see what her true colors are” I whispered the last part with so much venom it scared me. I felt a warm presence around me and found myself being pulled into a hug from Thomas.
“Whooo group hug!” I heard David yell from the background and crash towards Thomas and I. Soon enough I was being attacked by a dozen of my friends, barely breathing, and laughing hysterically with an enormous smile on my face. Sometimes my friends know exactly what to do to make me feel better.
“What's going on?” I heard Mr. M barely say.
“Ooo a group hug! Weee!” suddenly I felt the weight of another body hit me. This group hug was getting more and more painful every minute.
“OK, everybody off. Who are we burying anyways?” Mr. M asked while pulling people off like pealing an onion until he got to center or in other words me.
“Paige? Of coarse now it all makes sense,” he said while going away while high fiving some of the people who were part of the group hug.
“Now that the fun is over; I can announce who won the dessert contest and will get to spend their class period doing whatever they want,” Mr. M said going to the font of the room. He pulled out a little envelope, causing all of us to get excited, shut up, and listen to him.
“The winner is room 17 for their delicious chocolate cake,” he said happily making some random people scream in happiness, and the rest of groan. We didn’t win so we couldn’t get the day off today.
“They will receive this gift certificate and everyone can have the class off today to catch up on your sleep or to just do whatever, but no attacking people,” he said while pointing at us during the last part.
We all went back to doin nothing, me still stealing glances at Sky and Sam. Thomas and Jason were still next to me trying to make me feel better. Nathaly was still oblivious to everything talking to Evan and a couple of others.
“Paige, we have to leave. We’re not in this class; we just had to put our instruments up. Besides we’re already late for our next class,” Thomas said sadly getting up with Jason. Before he went away he gave me big hug and slowly walked out waving goodbye. I looked over at Sam and caught him staring with a confused face, something crossed his eyes. It looked like jealousy but it was gone as fast as it came. I sat far away at the corner not wanting anyone near me. I still had that backfire on me when Logan came. The last person I wanted to see me like this just had to come.
“Paige, is something wrong?” he asked.
“Well no shit Sherlock,” I remarked madly. He got wide eyed. He has yet to hear me get mad or see what it was like for me to get seriously pissed.
“What happened?” he asked quietly scared to see what I would do.
“Sluts. Fucking sluts are what happened.” I grumbled with my eyes stinging. Whenever I closed eyes I could still see the smirk on Sky’s face when Sam went over to her. I don’t know why it bugged me so much, but it did.
“Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?” he whispered getting closer to me until we were shoulder to shoulder just staring in front of us. I nodded and laid my head on his shoulder quietly trying not to make any thrash movements I let some of those tears spill. Yep, I'm a crybaby. I actually let Sky get to me. Logan put his arm around me and just held me. He didn’t care that I was crying on his shoulder or the fact that I was having some extreme mood swings that day. It felt good being able to have someone there to hold me when I was feeling horrible.
