Chapter 13: Convivial

-x-

The sun rays shone through my blinds and landed on my face. Irritated, I sat up and shot a glare at the window. Something moved beside me, causing my pulse to accelerate and for me to turn quickly.

The not strawberry, but blondish brown haired punk was in my bed, without a shirt. My head pounded, and I tried standing up when a voice said "I would take it easy if I were you." I sat on the edge of my bed, back facing away from him. "You could barely stand on your own two feet without me." He chuckled, and I felt heat rise to my face.

"Did we do anything last night?" I tried to keep a steady voice, fearful, and my throat became tight. Many thoughts rushed through my head.

"God no. I just brought you home."

"What happened last night?"

"Well..."

Friday Night: Levi's POV

The one thing I'll  admit is college is definitely different then high school. Although  things look the same, they aren't. College has an odd vibe in general.

Tonight  there was a party, because why the hell not? We made it through the  first week, we deserved something. I wasn't hosting it, but everyone was  invited.

What should I wear? Should I keep my current outfit on, or change into something else?

Since skinny jeans were my best friend right now, I decided to wear them. The party didn't have a dress code, so my t-shirt would do.

Now my worries focused on being the loner and loser of the party. My neutral face comes off as a glare, and it hurts to smile, so I'm screwed.

Tonight, I would go in there with a clear head and objective - make new friends, don't do drugs, and responsibly drink.

Time quickly passed, and there was ten minutes before it started. I decided to leave now, since it was across campus. A crowd in front of me lead the way to the party, but they were slow walkers. A door to my right would be a quicker route, the only con was it being outside.

Exiting impulsively, I felt a mist hit my face. There was a thin layer of fog, and the further I walked the heavier the mist, turning into rain. By the time I got back indoors, my shirt was slightly clinging to me.

Nobody noticed the fact I was on time, or that my shirt was wet, because the music was booming, and everyone was moving, whether it was dancing or attempting to.

I found it fascinating the way the crowd moved, it was like one big wave. The suave movement of the crowd pleased me, calming my nerves.

On the left side of the room, there was the refreshments table, PRO. In between the table and me was a huge crowd, CON.

When I was littler, I remember not showering for two weeks. And walking through a sweaty and horny crowd of adults isn't much better.

Suddenly, the person I least expected to see came into my field of vision. In fact, he actually elbowed me, accidentally.

"Dude what the absolute f-?" He looked at me and a calm wave swept through me, and my anger vanished.

"Hey shorty, fancy meeting you here."

"I have a name, you know." He looked at me, saying to continue. "Levi."

"Farlan." We could barely hear each other over the boom of the music. Seconds later, he grabbed my arm and pulled me towards a door.

"We can talk more easily here." He closed the door behind us, and sat down. It was heavily raining, but the steps were sheltered and dry. A cigarette dangled from his lips, and a lighter was balanced in between his fingers.

He saw the way I looked at the cigarette. "Want a drag? The first one is the most satisfying, in my opinion."

I hesitatingly took the death stick, sucked on it, and blew it out slowly. I mentally high-fived myself for not being stupid and and for not choking.

We took turns taking drags, and sat in silence. Is this what kids did back in the seventies? Smoke because others did, too? Why wasn't I acknowledging the fact that I could grow a physical addiction to nicotine?

He tossed the butt onto the ground, crushed it, and stood up.

"Nice talk, Farlan." He snickered, cracking a knuckle.

"I believe we have a party that we're missing." He offered not only a helping hand, but an adventurous night.

Grabbing his hand, I accepted whatever would happen tonight.

Alcohol brought out a side I  thought I would never show - everything weird and social in me, with all  of my thoughts and nerves and emotions numb. It was a happiness high.  My thoughts weren't clear, balance was hard to keep.

I looked to my left, and saw Farlan laughing, obviously drunk. Plastic red cups were thrown everywhere, and not as many people were here. Glass bottles were broken and scattered, and a couple half asleep dancing in the centre of the room.

Someone called my name, and I saw Farlan waving me over. I tripped over my own leg, and fell on the ground, laughing and intoxicated. Everything kind of had a blur to it, so my actions were impulse - no logic involved.

Someone would spin the bottle and kiss someone else - so cliche, I know - and it was all going well until I remembered I had a boyfriend. And it was my turn.

It landed on an empty gap between two people, so I shrugged and passed it to the guy next to me. Two spins later, Farlan smirked when his spin landed on me. He leaned over to kiss me, when I stopped him.

"I'm dating someone." I should've said boyfriend. I should've said Eren. He wasn't just someone, he was more.

"It wouldn't kill you if we kissed." His whispered on the corner of my mouth. "It doesn't mean anything." Everything happened in a second. Farlan kissed the corner of my lips and sat back down. I sat there, spaced out, my mind foggy.

What just happened? Standing up didn't agree with my head or balance. Catching myself was hard, and walking was harder.

Farlan ran after me, he being faster than me.

"Where are you going? The party just started!"

"Back. I don't feel well." And that was the truth. Talking would make me barf all over everything.

He grabbed my elbow hard, trying to pull me back to the party, but he grabbed a pressure point, dragging me at this point. The last thing I remember was Farlan saying "Oh shit." as I hit the ground.
