The doorbell rang. I went to answer the door and it was Chloe. “Hey Chloe, what you doing here” (she has never visited my house before.  And when one of the most popular girl in school visits your house you automatically assume that something is wrong). “Nothing, I just wanted to say thank you”. I searched my brains, “for what?” I asked totally oblivious to what she was talking about.  “For staying with me when I was upset, none of my friends came not even Abigail, but you were there wiping my tears a way, when I’ve been so horrible.  And you have also been helping josh who completely pretended that you didn’t exist in the school. That’s why I came to say thank you’. I was touched, as well as surprise show of gratitude. “Wow, thanks and your welcome. But it was really nothing. You can come in”.

“I’ll offer you juice but we just ran out”. I said trying to look for something to offer her. “No thanks, I just came here to see you and would be on my way soon, anyways”. This even made me more anxious and suspicious of her being here the last thing I needed was a ‘leave my boyfriend alone speech’.  “Look sally, I know you obviously like josh, and he like you too, I mean why else will he ask to study with you, why else will you study at all. But remember what you told me in the toilet when I was crying. He comes with a lot of baggage and issues. And he will definitely end up hurting you. And I like you and want u to be friends that’s why I’m telling you this. Because I need real friend, because with a friend like Abigail who needs enemies right”. I heard what she said and found it difficult to process. It was someone was extinguishing a fire before it started. And all hope of being with Josh was diminishing before my eyes and I did my best to come up with the logical answer to what she had just said.  Because in my head she just told me that the most popular boy in school even to use and dump me and end up hurting me. And the most popular girl in school who is like the queen of Riverdale High wants to be friends with me sally. “I want to be your friend too, and as for josh, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there, he hasn’t asked me out yet”.  She stood up and hugged me. “And I know you don’t want me dating your x-boyfriend and I’ll never even consider him if you’re not okay with it”. She smiled at me and said “I don’t care; I just don’t want you to get hurt”. I was relieved at this “thank you” I said. And I got out some noodles for us to eat and we ended up watching a movie, hanging out and going shopping that Saturday. The social life of a popular girl is so busy, is unbelievable and I’m knackered at the end of the day.
