That's called Quidditch

Victoire's P.O.V.

"Tori, hurry up! We're going to be late for the Quidditch tryouts!" I yelled, looking up at the main staircase.

"I'm coming down as fast as I can! Excuse me if I haven't gone to a school where you had to climb up and down a mountain everyday just to get to where you want to go!" Tori complained, half jumping, half running down the staircase. She weaved in and out of other students, and was trying not to spill any of her fries.

"Oh come on, it's not that bad." I said, grabbing her hand and pulling her down the field. We ran on the field and sat in the stands. There were a lot of Quidditch players who were trying out for their house, and all of them looked nervous.

"Do most students watch the opposing teams tryouts?" Tori asked, offering me a fry.

I took one and shook my head. "No, but we're here for moral support for Teddy... plus we need to keep an eye out on the competition."

"But our houses are competing too-"

"Yes, but we're both competing against Hufflepuff." Tori ate another fry and squinted out onto the pitch while I kept talking. "I can't have Teddy win the Quidditch cup this year. So I want Gryffindor or Ravenclaw or Slytherin to win."

"But when people talk about Slytherin, it always sounds like they hate them."

"Nah, it's kind of a big joke at Hogwarts. Like, sixteen or seventeen years ago, there was a huge wizarding war which you'll learn about with Camden, and Slytherin was the house that had a good portion of killers and stuff. But now there are tons of good people in Slytherin, and there can be rude and mean people in every house. Slytherins themselves joke about the house stereotype."

Tori was about to say something but Haylee and Cass sat down next to us.

"Hey, newbie." Haylee said. "Scouting out the Hufflepuff team?"

"How are they doing?" asked Cass, taking a fry from Tori's plate.

"I'm not sure," Tori said. "They haven't started yet. Teddy and the rest of the team haven't even gotten here yet." The two girls looked out on the pitch.

"Oh," Cass said, pulling her brown hair out of her face. "I guess they haven't."

I laughed and shook my head. "Cass, you're just here for the guys."

"Oh, I am. I won't even deny it. That tall guy over there looks kind of cute... wait, no, he looks so angry at everything. Maybe that one down on the end... I do like brown eyes..."

Tori threw her head back and laughed. "In my opinion, the one next to him is cute too. He looks like he could be in your year. Have you gone out with him, or are you and Teddy-"

"No! Oh Merlin, no! That's practically incest! Teddy lives with his godfather who's my uncle Harry. Even if it's not by blood, Teddy is relted to me. I could never! Besides, I know too much about him to have ever thought of him like that, and I like someone else."

"Ooooh, who is it?" Haylee asked me.

I blushed and waved my hand. "Doesn't matter. He has a girlfriend... at least I think he does."

"You never know, he could just be dating her to get you to notice him." Tori said.

I shrugged, and looked over my shoulder when I felt a tap on it. Camden, Logan and Jake were sitting behind us.

"Hey Vicky, what's this I hear about a certain guy?" Logan asked, winking at me.

"Nothing," I said through gritted teeth. "and if you mention anything to anyone I will personnaly stock up on Weasley's Wizard Wheezes products just for you!"

Logan rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say, Vicky, but just so you know, you'll never get with him if you don't talk to him."

"Mind your own buisness OK?" I grumbled. I wasn't here to talk about my silly little crush that would never amount to anything, I was here to watch the Quidditch tryouts. I was here to support Teddy in being the captain, and also look out for flaws in their team so I can take them down.

I looked out onto the other end of the field, and saw a patch of bright blue. "Look, Teddy's finally coming with the rest of the team."

"Ooh looks like there's some tension out there," Camden grimaced. "And why's there only Teddy, Ronald and Tom out there? What happened to Sophie and Zoey?"

Teddy and the two other boys walked out onto the middle of the field and observed the players. There were some shaking and then others were perfectly still, as if they were scared Teddy was going to jump out at them. Victoire listened as Teddy spoke. "There are now four open positions!" And the players trying out went wild.

Teddy P.O.V.

"There are now four open positions!" I yelled, looking at the line of students trying out for the team. Immediatly they all started talking and jumping up and down, asking their friends if they heard right, and asking what positions were open.

"Stop talking and listen to the people who decide wether or not you stay on the team!" Thomas yelled. Everyone lokked up and there was a rush of sound as twenty srudents ran back to their original spots. "Thank you." Thomas sighed, rubbing his forehead.

"Now, there are the following positions available," I said walking up and down in front of the players. "Keeper, two Chasers, and one Beater. Now, if you want to try out for Chaser, go over to stand infront of Ronnie over here, if you want to try out for Beater, go in front of Tom, and if you're going to try for Chaser, stand in front of me. GO!"

While the players all lined up, I looked up in the stands. I reconized the guys and Vicky, and tge two other girls would be tutoring with, and then I noticed who was sitting in the middle of all of them. There, eating some french fries and laughing with all of them, was the new girl, Tori.

My eyes settled on her for moment. There was something different about her but I wasn't sure what it was... maybe it's because she was American. I watched as she fixed her ponytail and turned to look at what was happening. When she saw me watching her, she smiled and whispered something in Vicky's ear, who laughed. I quickly looked back at the Hufflepuff students in front of me. I recognized a lot of them. "OK, first thing about being on a Quidditch team is flying. So before we start doing excercises and start evaluating how you play the position you're trying out for, we're going to test your flying skills, and how you work with others. So lets do some flying and teamwork drills."

Tryouts lasted for a good three or four hours, before we got everyone to line up again. "Good job, everyone. Tom, Ronnie and I will be making the cuts tonight, and the team list will be up around lunchtime. If you get cut, don't worry about it too much. There were a lot of good flyers out here today, and unfortunately we did have to make cuts. So, if you really do want to play Quidditch, keep practicing and come to the games so you can catch up on tricks, and come to the tryouts next year."

Ronald went on to explain where they could find the sign up sheet, and to come talk to us if they changed their minds about playing. "We only want people who are one hundred percent they want to play, and will put in all their effort for the team."

"Now, you all are free to go. Keep an eye out for the team sheet, and if you've made it, we'll see you very soon. If not, we'll still see you around in the common room." Thomas clapped his hands, letting everyone know they could leave. As everyone shuffled off the field, Thomas scrunched up his nose. "I hope they all go and take a shower... some of them reek."

I laughed. "You don't smell too good either, so I wouldn't say anything."

Tom just shrugged. "Hey, it just shows that I work hard."

Ronald laughed and said something, but I didn't hear it; I was too focused on the new girl. While all the people surrounding her were getting up, she was still sitting down. It looked as if she was in a trance. She frowned and quickly looked up, shaking her head. There was something strange about this new girl, and I wasn't sure if it was a good strange or a bad one.

I shook off the feeling. Right now I had a team to form, and I had to show Zoey and Sophie that we could win games even though we had to get a new Keeper. My last two years at Hogwarts were going to be great and nothing was going to stop it.
