The next morning was the same as yesterday. The only things that was different was that today I was wearing a dark green dress with light green trim. I walked down to breakfast and almost fell down the stairs. My mind was so clouded with thoughts. I still couldn't help but wonder about the mysterious boy Garren. I tried to push those thoughts away so that I could have a descent breakfast with my grandparents. When I took my seat in the kitchen my grandmother grinned. "I have wonderful news Scarlet," she exclaimed. "We will be hosting a ball here at the Blackwood manor tonight. Oh isn't that just exciting?" I just continued to eat but I nodded at her with a little expression. Grandmother frowned. "What's the matter dear," she said sweetly. I didn't look up. I just muttered, "I've never been to a ball." Grandmother and grandfather just chuckled. "That doesn't matter dear," said my grandfather with a smile. "I'm sure you will have fun. Why don't you run along and enjoy your day?" I nodded with a small smile and then walked out to the garden. "I lied," I whispered to myself. "I don't care that I've never been to a ball. I just don't know how to dance." As soon as I finished my thought I heard a small laugh. "You don't know how to dance?" The voice was one I recognized. "No I don't. Is that a crime Garren?" I spat the words at him. He smiled his devilish smile. "I can teach you if you would like," he said. I was hesitant but I was also desperate. I was going to be expected to dance tonight and it looked like Garren was the only teacher around. I nodded at him and replied with a simple "yes". He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the center of the garden. "Just let me lead, miss Scarlet," he said. We started dancing. The whole time I was thinking one, two, don't step on his foot. I actually wasn't terrible at dancing. Garren and I danced all around the garden for what felt like an hour. Then Garren spun me around for one last time and bowed. "You are a quick learner miss Scarlet," he stated. "You will do fine tonight at the ball." I smiled at him and then remembered all the questions I wanted to ask. "G-Garren," I choked out. I looked around and lowered my voice a bit. "How did you know my real name was Rylie?" He just looked at me trying to find an answer. Finally he spoke. "I had overheard you at the door that night when you first came here," he said. I wasn't so sure if that was the truth but I would have to just accept that as an answer because I heard Laura calling for me to come inside. I turned to say good bye to Garren and he had vanished. "Where did he go?" I whispered to myself. I turned still wondering where he went and walked back toward the manor.
