He took a deep breath. "It all happened a while ago," he said in his deep voice. "But it's a story I will never forget. You asked why my sister and I have different wing colors. Here is why." Andrea nodded at him as if she was permitting him to tell me everything. He nodded back. "I wasn't always an angel of darkness. A long time ago I was an angel of The Lord much like my sister." He paused. "I had strong, white wings just like Andrea's," he said with a sigh. "When I was 5 and Andrea was 3 we were told we will be trained to be part of an elite group known as 'The Protectors'. This was not a group you could get into by signing up, you had to be specially selected at a young age. The protectors job was to hunt down demons that tormented the world. But the most important job of the protectors," his voice trailed off in thought. Then he began to speak again. "The most important job of the protectors was to make sure that the Rose was always safe." I looked at him slightly confused. "What is the Rose?" I asked. Andrea smiled at me. "The Rose is a human with the power to destroy demons but for good." "Wait," I said. "If the Rose is the only thing that can kill a demon then how did the two of you kill Zachary and Mark?" Andrea's pale green eyes focused on me. "Angels cannot kill demons permanently," she said. "We can stop them by turning them to dust but they eventually take a new form. The Rose can get rid of them completely." Then Garren took my hand and kissed me softly. He then looked into my green eyes. "There have been many roses throughout time all over the world." He smiled his devilish smile and then whispered into my ear. "And you my lovely Rylie are the Rose now." I pulled back and stared at him in shock. "How?" I asked. "How is it me?" He caressed my face and moved my hair away from my scarred eye. "This is the mark of the rose," he said. "This scar has the power to obliterate demons. That is why Zachary and Mark came to attack you. They see you as a very large threat." Then Andrea chimed in. "Don't worry. My brother and I will help you learn more about your powers in time." She then looked to Garren. "But right now my brother must finish his story." He sighed. "As I was saying," he said. "Our main purpose was to protect the Rose. My sister and I trained up until we both reached the age of 10. By the time I was 12 and my sister was 10 we were taken down to Earth by our instructor for our first mission. We followed our teacher to a forest where we found three dark figures leaning up against some trees. A tall woman with long, black hair, a muscular man with spiky, purple hair and a shorter girl with short, dark brown hair. All of their eyes were red with insanity. We were told to fight them alongside our instructor to show our progress." Garren paused to look at his sister. "Andrea was a natural. She took down the shorter girl in no time. Our teacher barely broke a sweat in getting rid of the taller girl. Then it was up to me to finish off the man. The teacher was too busy congratulating my sister to notice that I was losing the fight. The demon was telling me I was weak and I don't belong in the Protectors. However I kept fighting and then," I squeezed his hand in suspense. "What happened?" I questioned. He looked at me and then at the ground. "Then I blacked out."
