“Wake up.”

I sit and blink in the harsh daylight. Everyone is climbing out of the back of the truck. I crawl out and jump down, landing heavily on my ankle, which buckles. I swear and limp over to the rest of the group.

“Language Stiff.” Tobias teases.

“Shut up.” I snap back

“Ooh. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the truck bed.” He jokes. I roll my eyes but smile anyway.

The truck sets off and I take note of where we are; by the train tracks near my old school. I must have missed getting past the guards by the fence but I don’t really have much time to think about it because-

“Train!” I shout and get into a position to jump.

“What?” Katniss yells over the roar of the approaching train.

“JUMP!”  Tobias and I shout and I throw myself forward. I grab the bar by the door and scramble up into the carriage to help the others. I grip Delly’s wrists and haul her up next to me.

“You guys are CRAZY!” She says, rubbing her knee, which hit the train door.

Katniss, Delly and I sit on one side of the open carriage door, backs pressed to the wall. The boys sit in a similar position. After an hour or so of having my hair whipped in my face by the wind let in through the carriage door I spot familiar roofs. I stand up and drag Katniss up with one hand and Delly with the other.

“JUMP ONTO THE ROOF!” I yell.

I let them go and launch myself onto the roof, grabbing reaching hands to help me up. I watch the others jump and help them up. Everyone looks a little injured and tired but another surprise is to come. Tobias jumps through the hole in the compound roof and everyone screams except me.

“It’s ok.” I say

“He just committed suicide! It’s so NOT ok!” Gale says, looking at me like I am a monster for not caring about m boyfriend’s death.

“Try it yourself. Trust me.” I tell him.

He looks at me like I need locking up but climbs down onto the ledge and jumps.

“Come on!” I call to the others and climb onto the ledge myself. I jump and hurtle through the air. My short hair flies out and I land heavily on my back on the hard net, the breath knocked out of me. A hand reaches down to help me up and I take it. Tobias yanks me out and onto the steps.

“Lost your title of 1st jumper have you Stiff?” He asks

“No.” I reply, gasping for air. “Lost any of that sarcastic tone you call humour?”

“No.” He grins and kneels on the step below the one I sit on, hand gently pressing my ankle. “No broken bones.”

“There will be if you don’t stop that!” I grumble half-heartedly. He kisses my cheek and I lace my fingers in his.

“Ow!” I hear Katniss groan as she hits the net.
