Leah's POV

Landon didn't even speak to me almost the entire day and out of nowhere he wants to take me out for dinner.

"Leah, are we not going to talk at all tonight?" He sat down across from me.

"This restaurant is beautiful." I said.

"Get us a bottle of your best wine please?" Landon told the waiter.

"Are you still mad about Celine?" He raised his eyebrows.

"Can we not talk about her?" I harshly whispered.

"So this is about Celine? Sweetheart, you have nothing to worry about. I'll only be seeing her for a couple more days before this case is over. After that, no more Celine."

"Why couldn't it be a man prosecutor?" I asked.

He laughed at me and I crossed my arms. "Babe, I love you, okay?"

"Okay." I simply said.

He licked his lips. "So you're not mad at me anymore?"

I huffed. "Can we order already?"

I signaled the waiter over here and gave him my order.

Dinner was mostly small talk. I was still a little upset about the whole Celine situation.

"Tonight was great." He said while I was unlocking my door.

"It was. Thank you." I opened my door and went in and stopped at the doorway.

"Good night, Landon." I put my hand on his chest before he can come inside.

"You're not going to invite me in for a cup of coffee or an episode of Friends?" He asked.

"Not tonight. I'm really tired and just want to lie down." I scratched my head.

"Okay, I'll sleep with you."

"Landon, I want to sleep alone tonight. I'll see you tomorrow." My lips formed a thin line and I closed the door before he could say anything.

I set my keys on the small table and went upstairs to my bedroom. I took off my dress and slipped into my pajamas.

I got under my covers and went straight to sleep.

*

A few days passed and Landon and I have not had a day where we actually hung out at my house or his. Once in a while I'd give him a quick peck, but other than that, no making out or having sex.

Celine was saying good bye to Landon at the moment because they won their case and she was going to New Jersey.

I was sitting at my desk when Landon popped his head in. "She's gone. You happy now?"

"You make me sound like a bad person." I softly said.

"Well you're the one who didn't want her here."

"I didn't want her to be with you. That's all."

"It was only work-related and you should understand that." He told me and closed the door.
