Chapter 10

Kitana's Pov

I woke up groaning the pain in my side and the ache in my back, neck and legs making me stiff and hard to move. I rolled my neck hearing it crack slowly and looked to my left where Kid was laying holding my hand like if he left go I would fly away I smiled under my mask. I rolled my head to the right my chest feeling heavier by the second to see Kyle asleep in the chair beside me. My boys stayed by me no matter what. I slowly reached out and ran my hand through Kyle's long white hair spiking it back up and he groaned into life. I took off my mask and smiled at him and he smiled back before standing and stretching when Stein walked in.

"Ah Lady Death how are you feeling?" He asked standing next to Kyle near my head. Just as I was about to answer I started coughing up blood and Stein half dragged me off the bed my blood falling into a bowl below when I finally stopped coughing he pushed me back into bed and Kid looked at me on the verge of tears.

"I'm fine." I breathed and Kyle handed me a cloth motioning for me to wipe my face which I did slowly and Kid shook me by the shoulder.

"Your not allowed to die Sis. I need you too much." He said and I put my hand on his cheek he is such a sweet child.

"I'm not going any where Kiddo." I breathed my chest still heavy my breathing shallow. "What happened? I don't remember anything after Stein and Marie found us." I said panting out of breath already.

"You passed out after climbing down the cliff. You had shattered half of the rib cage on the right hand side and perforated a lung." Stein said lighting a cigarette I nodded slowly and looked at Kid smiling.

"See Kiddo I told you Sis wasn't going anywhere she loves you too much. She doesn't love me at all." Kyle said and I leaned over to hit him with the back of my hand failing miserably and Kid pulled me back into place hugging me arms around my neck my shoulder cold and wet from his tears.

"It's Ok Honey I am staying right here." I breathed and he looked up at me and I wiped his runny nose with the bloody cloth. He giggled as it tickled him and Kyle started tickling him taking him off the bed. "When can I go home?" I asked

"Once I am sure that your lungs are clear you can go." Stein said and I nodded slowly holding my right side.

"You and Marie pack a punch you know that right?" I asked.

"Yes I do but we didn't think that we got you that hard since you stood up and walked away like you weren't in any pain." Stein mused and Kyle cracked up laughing.

"Stein I once saw her sprint away carrying my in this form with two broken collar bones and shattered fingers with a fractured femur she can handle pain in a big way. But seriously you said you were bruised but you should have gotten me to take a look it may have saved us the stress." He said his face like stone and Stein shook his head.

"The best that I could have done at the time is strap her torso like that besides I see her being fine in a week." He said waving his hand and lighting another cigarette. "Ok you two out I have to change her dressings and you two stink go have a shower. Up one flight of stairs and third door on the right Marie brought you two a new set of clothes." Kyle picked up Kid and walked out and Stein turned to face me.

"Yeah Yeah, I'm getting up now." I said using the side of the bed to pull me up into a sitting position and I saw the dark stain on my right side. Stein cut the bandages away along my spine and took the dressing away and I instantly felt cold. He quickly put a new one in place and re wrapped my ribs. Once he was finished I started coughing again and the dish was in front of me and he held my hair out of the way. I wiped my face and he took away the dish I rolled onto my left and fell asleep I was just too tired to stay awake, I guess I had lost too much blood to fight it.

Kyle's Pov

I waked back into Kitana's room with Kid after we had showered and changed and I saw her asleep blood stained her face but she looked peaceful. I put Kid on the floor and pulled out his building blocks which Lord Death had sent along with some books and other games. Kid sat down and started building something. He kept knocking it down muttering disgusting but eh. After about four hours he stood up and poked me. "Uncle Kyle look perfect symmetry." He smiled so proud of himself. I smiled and looked at his building.

"Hey Kit might like it wake her up she likes symmetry like that have you seen the way she dresses." I said and Kid nodded before waking Kitana and showing her the building.

"Perfectly symmetrical. Everything in perfect balance well done Kid this is what being a reaper is about." She yawned when Marie walked in with Kitana's over coat and put it down on the table before smiling and walking away. "You know Kyle I am feeling much better my chest isn't so heavy I think we could go home soon."

"Yeah I will leave that judgment up to the good doctor. You have tried to die on me too many times for me to trust your medical skills." I said swinging my legs over the arm rest.

"Yeah Yeah I hear you." She said sitting up slowly holding her side. "I think a couple days off may be a good idea though."

"Oh now you think it's a good idea. I told you to take a break when you got smashed in the ribs but no you just had to keep moving. You just had to get those stupid jobs done." I shouted and Kid started crying. "Great now Kid is crying and it's all your fault. Oh Kitana I'm sorry please stop crying." I said softening my voice when I saw her cry. I stood up and went to hug her but she only pushed me away falling out of the bed in the process.

"Stay away from me." She whispered after she sat up again and Kid wrapped his arms around her.

"Stay away from Sis." He cried pulling her cloak down along with her mask. She pulled on her cloak slowly as I stood there.

"Kit, Kid please I didn't mean it. Please Kit get back into bed Stein hasn't released you let. Kid Sis still isn't well she still needs help." I pleaded but all she did was put her mask on and slowly stand up clutching at her side I saw the blood seeping through her bandages as she did up the coat and Kid took her hand. I scrambled to the door reaching it before them and I stood there blocking the only exit.

"Kyle move." She whispered looking up at me panting slightly.

"No you need to get back into bed you are injured and you need help." I said reaching forward but she only took a step back when Kid jumped on me and started jabbing me with his fingers. He was trying to hit the pressure points so I couldn't fight back. Kit took a step forward and hit me on the back of my exposed neck and I went limp laying on the ground unable to move. Kid got off me and took Kitana's hand leading her away from me. "LADY DEATH COME BACK HERE!!!" I shouted but they only kept walking away. About five minutes after they left Stein walked by seeing me on the ground he helped me up and undid what Kit had done.

"What happened?" He asked

"I upset Lady Death and Lord Deaths Son so they left and well left me unavle to move." I replied standing slowly and walking off down the hall where they went.

"Death Scythe Kyle I think she went upstairs you go take a look I will look around here." He said pointing at the nearby staircase. I nodded and walked up the stairs opebing every door and cheacking every room. When could my miester gone now? It can't be this hard to find two reapers when they can't move that fast.
