Chapter 12

Kyle's Pov

I woke up to some coughing and the sheets wet beside my hand that was wrapped around Kitana's waist. I jumped up and shook her. "Kit are you ok?" I asked looking at her squinting as the morning light shone through the windows. She looked back at me pale and shining in sweat blood running down the left side of her face. I looked at her wide eyed and scooped her up in my arms and walked her into the bathroom setting her down in the tub and I got a cloth moistening it and placed it on her forehead as she wiped her cheek with her wrist, at least her breathing is better. I stripped the bed of the black sheets and the mattress protector and threw them into the washing machine and turned it on. I then called Stein. "Hey Stein it's Kyle, Lady Death has just coughed up more blood." I said slowly.

"Where is she now?" He asked calmly. 

"In the bath tub with a cool cloth on her forehead she's running a slight fever.Her breathing is deeper which seems like a good thing." I responded as I walked back to Kitana who was already asleep in the tub. 

"Has her bandages been soaked through with blood?" He asked.

"No, other than the coughing up blood and slight fever thing she's fine. Though when reapers loose blood they start to run hot unlike us humans." I said rubbing my face I had to sell that I was just human to anyone just as a backup measure. 

"I'll be over soon with some spare dressings and to check her breathing just make sure she remains calm and she cools off ok." He said. 

"Yeah I will make sure " I said before hanging up on Stein. "Kitana what's wrong honey talk to me." I said sweeping hair out of her face and she woke up looking at me. 

"It's so hot today." She mumbled slowly coughing slightly into the back of her hand. I watched as it came away clear and breathed a sigh of relief. "How's Kid?Is he healed? Because if he is I am going to take my powers back I am sick and tired of being out of breath." She asked taking the cloth from her head and wiping her face with it to cool herself down. 

 "I will go find out Ok. Oh hello Kid your up early." I said standing up from the edge of the tub.

"Is Sis ok? Why is she so out of breath Uncle Kyle?" He asked

"Because Sis decided to run before she could walk Kiddo I was being silly again but I'm fine. How are you?" She asked smiling and Kid climbed into the tub with her sitting on her lap. 

"Much better Sis you didn't have to give me your powers like that you need them more than I do so take them back." He cried and she started laughing.

"I am so happy that you are feeling better Kid and my powers will leach away during the day I don't wait to hurt you ok." She said hugging him tightly.

"Ok. I am spending today with Daddy did you know that Sis?" he asked all happy again and I saw some colour return to Kitana's face.

"No I didn't. What are you going to do with Daddy today?" She asked sounding like the mother she once was. 

"We are going to play and he is going to teach me things that only Daddy can teach me right now." He smiled and Kitana smiled back.

"That's sounds great Kiddo you had better get ready and eat something." She said and Kid nodded getting out of the tub and walking away off to his room. "I had better make his lunch." she said struggling to get up.

"How about I make his lunch Kit you are still injured and still need your rest." I said helping her out of the tub and I helped her into a jacket buttoning it up for her. She just nodded at me and we walked to the kitchen where she grabbed an icepack and put it on the back of her neck resting her forehead on the table keeping her back as straight as possible she sighed in relief and muttered something about how that's better. Kid walked in soon after with him backpack on his back. He put it down on the ground beside his chair and asked me for some cereal with milk. I smile at him and gave him a bowl of cereal. He walked back over to the table slowly careful to not spill any milk and Kitana put it on the table for him as he climbed into the chair with a booster for him. After breakfast Kit went to change and do her hair so we could all walk up to the DWMA and enjoy the early morning walk. I told Stein to come around lunch time because Kitana was feeling a lot better now that her healing had returned to her. She locked the door and stood in front of me I could tell that she was smiling behind her mask. She was in a high collared trench coat and black pants with black boots with no heel on them at all she was now at my height. She took Kids hand as we walked to the academy and I stood on guard out of habit just three more days till Kids birthday that's all we need. We reached the stair case and Kitana grumbled about the stairs again and I carried Kid on my back. Once we dropped Kid off with his father we walked home slowly and Kitana went to bed to get some rest I think she was just trying to get me off her back because I was fussing over her and I knew that she hated it.

----TIME SKIP OF THREE DAYS-------

Kitana's Pov

We all walked up to the Academy for Kids Birthday I was feeling a lot better and I had the stitches removed after Stein visited three days ago. I was in my Battle robes again with my shattered mask and Kid was in his little Death Robes he looked like a smaller version of his father and was as cute as all hell. We walked up the stairs and to the Death Room where Lord Death greeted us in the usual manner. Once inside and the Death room door was locked Lord death and I took off our masks and I sat down beside Kid and Kyle. Lord Death took off his cloak to show his old mortal clothes that he worn soo long ago. His long dark hair was up in a pony tail, he worn simple long black pants and shoes his shirt was also black with his trade mark skull on each shoulder and at his throat holding a neckerchief in place with four white bars down the front serving as his buttons. He had golden features on his shoulders and on his belt which held the tattered cloak around his waist. I smiled at him and he smiled back. I took pictures of him and Kid together the little reaper and his father. Kid finally dragged me into the pictures and Kyle took some crazy shots for us before joining in on the fun. We ate birthday cake and all of Kids favourite food. I am just saying he will never grow out of fairy bread. 

"Kiddo I have your present for you but you have to close your eyes tightly or else it will disappear." Lord Death said and Kid closed and covered his eyes. Lord Death smiled and motioned for us to record this moment so Kyle started filming it. Lord Death walked behind his mirror and pulled out a box and put it down in front of Kid. "Open your eyes son." And Kids eyes snapped open and his little jaw hit the ground gaping at the size of the box. Kid could have fit inside it. He instantly stood up and carefully opened the present because he is weird and opened the box inside. It held a giant teddy bear that Kid could sleep on and down the bottom were Kids first set of daggers and pistols so he could start learning how to harvest souls like his father and I.

"Thank you Daddy. Look Sis I can fight like you now." He beamed and we smiled and laughed with Kid. 

"I will start teaching you tomorrow ok Kiddo." I said smiling and Kid nodded in response. Kid ran up to Lord Death and jumped up wrapping his little arms around his fathers waist before Lord Death picked him up further and hugged him tightly.

"So you like it?" He laughed and Kid nodded vigorously. "Are you going to be a symmetrical reaper just like your sister?" he asked and Kid nodded.

"Yep I want to be just like Sis and I want to fight like you daddy." He said smiling and we all laughed.

"Ok kiddo you have a lot to learn so go home and start studying. You are welcome here any time ok." Lord Death said smiling putting Kid down.

"What about Sis and Uncle Kyle?" He asked and Death cracked up laughing. 

"Of course Sis and Kyle can come too silly." He said and Kid started rubbing his eyes. "What's up Kiddo are your eyes hurting?" He asked sinking down to his sons level and Kid nodded. 

"Sis I want to go home." Kid whispered chocking back his tears I could tell that it hurt him a lot. 

"Ok Kid let's go home say bye to your dad and we will leave." I said as Kyle started packing up, Kid hugged Death and I put my mask on fixing Kids cloak and we left. Once we got home I gave Kid some medicine for his eyes and he went to bed. "Hey Kyle in the morning protecting him will be a hundred times easier." I smiled hugging Kyle close before yawning and walking off to my room.

"Yeah it will be and I think that you should start wearing your wedding ring again sweet heart. You know that we are married so why not?" He asked I nodded slowly I was too tired to fight it 

"In the morning I don't want to loose it." I mumbled getting changed before climbing into bed and falling asleep.
