Chapter 25

Kid's Pov

I walked up to the infirmary to check on Kitana and Soul. Maka asked me to check for her since she feels responsible for Soul getting hurt and I agreed to check for her since she looked so broken. I opened the door and Kasie bounced in before sitting down beside Kit and Soul waved at me. "Hey man." He said rolling his head to face us.

"Hey it's good to see you awake and Kitana off the ventilator." I said sitting beside him and he nodded.

"Yeah she woke up yesterday and Stein took the tube away. I can't sit up right now or I will bust my stitches open." He explained and I nodded slowly in thought. It was good that Kit had woken up it meant that she was healing properly but I could still hear her heavy breathing telling me that her lungs hadn't healed yet. "Oh yeah she asked me to get you to wake her since she needed to talk to you. Stein has left for class and Medusa has gone to get something from the store room so you have about 10 minutes." He said and I nodded before getting up and shaking Kit's shoulder lightly.

"Hey Kit what did you want to talk about?" I asked and she groaned into life hissing slightly at the pain that was no doubt throbbing through her body from the metal. 

"Kid?" She breathed.

"Yeah you wanted to talk to me." I said sitting beside her and she nodded.

"I want to borrow your healing abilities to heal my lungs so I can breathe properly and I want you to get me the eye medicine from the manor." She panted. 

"Uh sure how do I give you my powers?" I asked looking at my hands and she smiled lightly.

"Take my hand lightly and think of nothing but me getting better and healing. You will feel drained but don't worry about it. Just remember that until you get your powers back you will heal like a human." She said and I did as she instructed when I suddenly felt drained and tired almost mortal. I haven't felt this way in years. "Feel human yet?" She asked.

"Yeah it feels weird after spending so long as a reaper." I sighed and she smiled lightly. "Right you also wanted the eye medicine. Why?"

"My eyes burn and what Stein is giving me isn't working I have a feeling that they eye medicine will work." She whispered.

"Ok I will get it after school." I said and she nodded. "Till then rest. I know how tired you must feel after having reaper metal touch your skin for that long." She nodded yawning slightly and turned her head to listen to Kasie but I knew that Kit had fallen asleep. 

"Hey man go to class she will be fine." Soul said looking at me and I nodded before walking away.

"Oh hi Kid just dropping Kasie off again?" Medusa asked holding a canister and I nodded. 

"Yeah she asked to just sit there with her sister again so I am letting her." I responded tucking my hands into my pockets.

"Can I ask what they did to get imprisoned? I mean it's so odd to see two children with such high security. What did they do that was so wrong?" She asked.

"Kitana wiped out her entire clan save her sister all 200 of them." I said in a plain monotone voice.

"Oh my is she really that deadly?" 

"Yes but she claims that she only killed them because they had strayed from the phoenix path and let their souls become kishin eggs. She also claims that they were making Reaper metal to sell to outside sources to kill Lord Death, Lady Death and myself." I stated before walking away. "I have to go to class."

"Oh OK. Bye Kid." She said before walking into the infirmary knowing what I said wasn't a complete lie. Kit did in fact kill 200 members of the Phoenix clan for trying to kill her and her family with Reaper metal I just left out the small fact of that was 425 years ago and she took over as head of the clan after that day and ruled with an iron fist not that the clan minded. In fact the clan was doing well last time I checked but their numbers had dwindled due to disease and they are based out of Europe which would explain why Kasie can speak three languages at five years old. I reached class and took my seat beside Maka and smiled at her.

"How's Kitana and Soul?" She asked. The whole school knew that she and Soul helped Lady Death and Kyle save Kitana and that she had been tortured with Reaper metal. Due the the substance being called Reaper metal everyone assumes that I know all about it but I don't and neither does father. The only person on Earth who knows everything about the metal is currently asleep in the infirmary recovering from being attacked with that particular metal. 

"They are good. Kitana is breathing by herself now and woke up yesterday but she still needs a lot of rest since the burns and wounds are sever. Soul says hello and he isn't going to be sitting up for a couple days because of his stitches." I responded as Liz and Patty took their seats.

"I think we should do something nice for Kitana once she gets out of the infirmary. She did save the three of us after all." Liz said to us and Maka nodded. 

"Yeah but what should we do? I don't think she has a lot of freedom given her situation." Maka asked making me smirk.

"If I am there and I do not view it as a threat or illegal she can participate in anything. So no swimming right now since of the damage to her arms but anything would do really." I said re adjusting the rings on my fingers making them symmetrical. 

"Well then hmm do you think she would like a day to hang out with us? I mean she never gets the chance and she does want to make friends but because of her family she can't really." Maka offered and Liz nodded.

"Yeah we could go to the movies and go out to eat just spend the day being normal teenagers since all she does is stay in the gym and work out. Kasie joins in making her a ridiculously strong five year old but what do you want from the Phoenix clan." Liz said whilst Patty laughed like a maniac beside her. 

"It's settled. All of us will just hang out and be normal teenagers." Maka smiled and Liz nodded.

"Black Star won't like it. He can't handle not being the centre of attention but Kitana can take care of herself even without her arms." I said watching as Stein walked in with another creature to dissect.

"Oh maybe we can find something nice for her to wear that isn't black since she is always in black." Liz offered clearly not hearing me and Maka nodded in agreement. Not a lot happened after that and it came to the end of the school day where I went home to get the medication for Kit. I bumped into Spirit as I walked back up the stairs to get Kasie. 

"Forget something did we Kid?" He asked as he walked past me.

"No I just had to drop my books off at home first." I answered walking past and into the building where Kit and Soul were waiting. She was sitting up and softly talking to him with Kasie asleep in the chair beside her. "Hey guys." I whispered and they both looked in my direction smiling softly.

"Hey Kiddo how are you?" Kit asked me sounding better.

"I'm good how are both?" I asked.

"Good man." Soul answered turning his head to look at me.

"Tired and sore as hell but I am feeling better thanks to you." She smiled lightly. 

"I didn't really do anything but I did bring the medication you asked for." I said passing her a dose and some water. She very slowly took the dose pain written on her visible face as she moved her arm to her mouth. 

"Thanks." She said as I took the glass away from her. "How's your classes going?" She asked panting slightly.

"Good really good. I completed a  mission the other day collected another two souls." I said sitting on her bed and watched as Soul drifted off to sleep.

"That's good. Hey did I hear you and the girls get hurt when I got taken?" She asked and I sighed.

"Yeah two daggers in my shoulders.  Patty was knocked out and Liz suffered a blow to the head but we are fine now." I shrugged not even thinking about it.

"You were lucky the bastard used my daggers I felt him throw them. My daggers for school are only 30% Reaper metal the other 70% is stainless steel." She sighed laying down. "I got hit with the pure stuff and if it wasn't for my natural resistance to the metal I would be dead." She mumbled falling asleep quickly making me sigh. 

"Good night sister." I whisper brushing some hair out of her face and feeling the heat beneath the bandages. "Your burning up but I can't treat that Stein will have to in the morning." I sigh before waking Kasie up and walking out of the school with her as she told me about her day and how happy she was that Kitana had woken up.
