WORST WEEKEND EVER. I knew camping was a bad idea. But nooooo, dad just had to take us.
We reached our camping spot as early as six am. There were trees as far as the eye could see and their canopies made it hard to see anything. "Um Mark, are you sure this place is ....safe," mum asked looking around
"Of course it's safe. Why would I take you people to an unsafe place,"dad said "now set up those tents and get ready to have fun"
Mum and I were supposed to share one tent while dad, Glen and Cody shared another. But thanks to dad and his excitement, he forgot to carry their tent
Great, just perfect. :-[.
Now we all had to squeeze inside that tiny little tent.To add salt to the wound. Dad, forgot to pack enough food so we had to survive on lunch bars and mushmelows. In fact all this is dads fault.
"Are we having fun yet? "Glen asked sarcastically." Mommy I wanna go home," Cody complained
Dad looked upset."Kids the trip has just begun. Please don't give your father a hard time" mom said
I think that speech mom gave really encouraged dad "whose up for some hicking?" He asked
Well it was better than just sitting there and plus mom never bought me designer hicking boots for nothing.
Up the rocky mountain we marched, baring it's cold harsh conditions. I knew from the beginning that we wouldn't make it back home safe and sound. And I was right. Poor Cody slipped and twisted his ankle and
started crying. I felt so sorry for him. "I..I (sniff sniff) just wanna go home daddy," cried CodyYou'd think an ordinary father would call it a day and head home. But my dad isn't an ordinary father."Can't you hold it in sport, were almost at the top,"
Like really. "Mark, we're going down this mountain now!" Mom yelled carrying Cody on her back.
We slowly went down the steep mountain. Dad was pretty disappointed. He really wanted to get to the top of that mountain. His disappointment soon turned into anger.
He wasn't looking where he was going and he was carrying a big stick and was swinging it back and forth. The worst thing then happened, he hit a huge bee hive filled with like a hundred bees. The angry bees started chasing him down the mountain. We tried to help but the bees were after him and not us.lucky for dad, he was a fast runner. In fact, I have never seen someone run that fast in my life. Through my experience of watching cartoons, I learnt that bees never chase you when your under water. So I shouted
" jump in the pond! Jump in the pond!"
And surprisingly, it worked, the bees left him alone.
But dad had a few stings and he was soaking wet.
Maybe we could go home."Are you okey," we asked. "Yap, A OK. Tip top. Couldn't be better." He said pretending everything was alright. It was getting dark so we started a fire. We gathered around it and roasted the last of our mashmelows while singing all those camp fire songs. Then we heard rustles of leaves inside the forest. "Relax its just the wind," mum said. Yea right thats what they all say.
We heard it again. This time it seemed like its getting closer and closer and closer.
We then had the loudest growl I've ever heard. Actually the only growl I've ever heard. It was a...a...bear !!!!
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!" We all screamt in fear. It didn't move at all. "No body move!" Dad whispered. We did as he said. We were as still as a statue. Both us and the bear. A cold shiver ran up and down my spine. I panicked. I stood up and ran away screaming. Soon the whole family followed me, also screaming and we ran into the dark spooky forest. Strangely the bear didn't follow us.
Dark nimbus clouds gathered in the sky and it started raining. "Perfect just what we need," mom said sarcastically. After a while dad spoke," Look guys, I'm sorry I got you all into this. If we stayed home. None of this would have happened." I was like 'finally its about time you came to your sences'
"Its okey dad. I actually had fun," I lied. "Ya honey, you did us a favoir taking us out here." Mom lied, I think.
"Aww my foot still hurts, carry me mummy,"Cody whinned. But really, all dad did was injure himself. While lighting the campfire, he almost burnt down the tent. And the bees chasing him. That was hilarious. What I'll give to see that again( as long as dad doesn't get hurt)
OK, now that I think about it. I did have a great time. I mean, beats sitting around all day watching TV. Right?
Oh, back to the story. We saw light that continued to grow. "Hallo, anyone there?" A man asked holding a bright flashlight. "Were saved," Cody said. It was the park ranger. We told him what happened to us. About the bear. He just stared at us and laughed hard. "You mean you saw Barky the bear, he's temed." He said still laughing. I just rolled my eyes at him, well how were we supposed to know?
He walked us back to our spots and brought us some hot oatmeal. After eating, we squeezed into our tent and slept.
The next morning, we parked our staff and headed back home.
Mom and dad have just left to take Cody to the hospital and I'm left here with Glen.
Well gotta go. I barely last night because of those pesky mosquito's and I need my beauty sleep or I'll get really cranky
