"Florida!" Lianna continued. "We're going to Florida!" She thought it over... How? They had no money, traveling tickets, or even her sixth cousin twice removed, Janet, who escaped prison a whooping seventeen times!
"I wouldn't want Janet along if we were escaping the brand new high-tech super prison they're building," growled Meagan.
"How'd you know that they're building a super prison?"
"Ah! The government's building it." Lianna grinned as Meagan said this, remembering that time. She had beat the president at solitare while Meagan hacked and took all the data from the systems. "How do you know?" asked Meagan.
"Janet's getting transferred there when it's built."
Meagan nodden an "Okay". "Let's leave." she growled, looking out the window. They were on the twenty-third story... Quite a fall. "You running?"
"Faster than an elevator." sneered Lianna as she crawled out of bed.
"See ya at the bottom." Meagan opened the window and jumped. Lianna gave a quick grin and pulled on her normal clothes that Meagan had laid on her bed. The hospital rags were too revealing for her. She ran down all the stairs and beat the elevator by far. She zoomed by the counter in a blur.
Lianna got outside to see Meagan just standing by the road. Lianna rushed over. "Lookes like we're hitch-hiking to the airport." Meagan groaned. Lianna's eyes lit up; she always wanted to hitch-hike.
"To an airport we go!" groaned Meagan as she showed the hitch-hiking sign, aka the thumb thing.
Lianna grinned as the sight of the airport became visible. She thought of Tampa, the sun nice and hot, gorgous sunsets, wonderous beaches... That was the life.
"So, why are you here, girls?" asked the driver.
"No reason, Lou." Meagan explained, eyes staring out the window.
"I love your puppy Ralph!" laughed Lianna as the German Shepherd licked her face.
Lou's face looked like he needed a good shave... and shower. His soft hazel eyes turned to Lianna. "If you can't tell me, tell Ralph." he said. Meagan saw it as a "Trust me" plea. She didn't say a word.
"Well, Ralph... We, my best friend and I, were late coming home one night and our mothers screamed at us and-" spewed Lianna. Meagan wacked her forehead with her hand. Lianna had fell for it. She finished giving Ralph (Lou) her explanatoin (luckily, she cut out the secret agent stuff and a lot of detail).
Lianna looked as if she hadn't done anything wrong, but if Lou started to push the subject, Meagan was out. "So, are you heading home?" Lou asked Lianna. He was careful not to include Meagan.
Lianna looked at Meagan and saw a tense figure. She was expected to lie. "Yeah, I gotta make things right." she lied. She couldn't tell if he believed her or not.
"Well, then, little lady," Lou said, "be safe and return soon." Meagan knew that was aimed at both; Lou knew they weren't going home. The car pulled to a stop. Meagan froze as Lou started to speak. "I hope I see you again, Lianna," he said, "and you, too, Miss Meagan." Meagan was a little unsettled and she didn't know why.
"You too, Lou!" Lianna answered as they got out of the brown, muddy car and turned to walk in.
Meagan froze in her tracks. They hadn't told him their names! She twisted back to see nothing. Lou was gone. Meagan hadn't heard them go anywhere. Then, where were they? "Looks like we have a guardian angel," Lianna whispered. Meagan found that hard to believe, but she couldn't debunk it. 'Maybe we do...' she thought. "Read the Bible!" hissed Lianna.
