Josh woke up uncomfortable. He was cramped in his early teen CESP pod, which was kind of shit since he was about to turn seventeen at height 5'8". At least the CESP History units were a fun plant.
He lifted the lid of the pod and swung his legs out the side. He cracked his neck after having it sit strange all night because of the worn out plug and inadequate sleeping space he was stuck with. Removing the plug from the back of his head, he stood up and began to relax into his morning routine.
He grabbed his sunblock and shielding spray and coated himself before dressing in light clothing for the weather. Then he headed out of his room for breakfast to the joint kitchen that him and his floor of the tall building in which he lived, all shared.
He wandered in and saw a short girl in a vest top and short-shorts, sitting on the metal table in the centre of the room, with what appeared to be an actual paper book in her hands.
Josh coughed to get her attention and she grunted at him, holding up a finger before continuing to look down at the paper. Josh's eyebrows twitched and furrowed in confusion. "Shhhhh..." she whispered, slightly delayed from her attention being directed in the book, not on Josh.
The nameless girl dropped her finger and flicked the page ever-so-gently before putting a lock of shoulder-length, ashy-red hair behind her ear. She then looked up.
"How tall are you?" she questioned without warning.
"Uuhm... Do we not start with names first?" Josh quickly diverted his eyes before speaking. "5'8"." he replied.
The girl closed the book and a smile broke across her lips. "Great. I'll borrow you."
